Poll: Have you heard about Go?
-
Continuing the discussion from Bootstrapper Rewrite Language:
Hey, have you guys heard about Go?
- Yes
- No
- Are you crazy?
-
I'm actually thinking about learning it this week. Am I TRWTF?
-
Inb4 jokes about the game Go.

I'm actually thinking about learning it this week. Am I TRWTF?
The poll results so far say yes.
-
Heard infinitely more than I wanted about it on the CS forum from Ben L.
-
I really should get back into playing that.
-
-
Implying that I don't. I like Go more though.
-
It was more just an excuse to post that video.
-
Yes, but I don't care about it. It doesn't improve over existing languages enough to be worthwhile. And yes, I did spend time learning it.

Which programming language called Go are we talking about here?
(What is it with big companies and home-grown programming language names? Can't they at least pick something not used for another programming language already? It's not like they couldn't search to see whether it's in use or not…)
-
Go probably sucks, however as a matter of principle I support any initiative to make a language that can replace C/C++.
-
Current candidates are:
- D
- Rust
- Go
Of these, go seems to be gaining the most mindshare ATM. Who cares if they made a bunch of mistakes in designing it? Poor design didn't stop PHP or javascript from taking over the world.

I really should get back into playing that.
The problem I always get into is that I suck at it, and the only people I can find who play are enough better than me that all I can get is like one curb stomping. Which means I can't get good enough to find people willing to play.
