Poll: What stupid computer talent do you have?
-
Continuing the discussion from What is your browser's score?:
@Keith said:My thanks go out to Raymond Chen for providing the inspiration that made this possible.
- I don't have any talents.
- I can programm in PHP
- I can start a flame war on any given topic
- I know all of Discourse's keyboard shortcuts by heart
- What is this "computer" thing you are talking about?
- @morbiuswilters is my agent; ask him.
-
I love the misspelling in PHP option. I vote you leave it in. Or replace with "mash keys until PHP produces output"
Filed under: Maybe I should start a poll on that
-
I can summon @mikeTheLiar.
-
I can programm in PHP
I can spell program, and know when to use programme instead...
Filed under: Maybe we need a separate
Poll
category...
-
I'll leave it in. I'm getting tired of fixing typos. Especially freudian typos.
-
I have a special talent. I can not only program in PHP. I obtained Zend certification on PHP too.
Filed under: no, not the certification on Zend Framework because ZF is quite happily content in its WTFery, because somehow it seems even worse than the language itself.

-
@morbiuswilters is my agent; ask her.
Would all these votes count as notifications for @morbiuswilters?
-
-
Technically I'm in England so I should be making the case for it being programme instead but IIRC that's a noun rather than a verb...

That brings back fond memories...We could give it another go ... just for old times sake.
Though, I seem to remember that @Arantor asked to be summoned next. Too bad he's already here.

It seems we are doing so already - there's been a suspicious amount of @mikeTheLiar" in the more recent posts...Though, I seem to remember that @Arantor asked to be summoned next.
Bah, it's not as much fun if thevictimfondly-thought-of-member-of-the-community wants it.
-
That wasn't what I asked for. I asked to be the next sacrificial victim because as I recall, Mike wasn't best pleased and on the other hand I'd quite appreciate feeling like someone wants me for something for a change. Even if it's only a fleeting moment and a lie anyway.
-
-
as I recall, Mike wasn't best pleased
Searching for "@mikeTheLiar fuck" using the Discourse search certainly gets you to the right topic and even close enough to [his post][1] where he vents his anger.

Who does "her" refer to?
I seem to recall that there has been some discussion as of lately regarding his/her gender.
-
morbs and I go way back. He's definitely male.

Well, I can only keep that for future reference, as I can't change the "her" to "him". @PJH: couldn't you change that? The popup windows said I should contact a moderator.

'tis done.

Bug: Poll does not contain the option "Receive tons of @ notifications at a moment's notice."
-
I don't need to say @mikeTheLiar if I reply to you.
-
Bug: replying to a message and @ notifying reply-ee only results in one notification. @ben_lubar
-
Bug: replying to...
You might consider casting your vote in the poll What I do... when I find a bug in Discourse?.

Bug: Poll does not contain the option "Receive tons of @ notifications at a moment's notice."
Just out of curiosity, how many alerts did you get from my poll thread that mentioned you 4 times in the source but rendered it like 15 times instead?
-
Just one, as near as I can tell.
-
I think it refers to that little asian chick with the bad attitude.

Gray is the color of aluminum; grey is the colour of aluminium.
(And with that out of the way, my stupid computer talent....)
I touch-type. And when someone suggests putting modifier keys where they can be operated by the thumbs, I want to grab their scrawny throats and yell "instead of changing an established standard, how about you learn to use it the way it's been for a century and a half?"

Assuming you mean his avatar, here's what you get when you crop out the hand and reverse image search it:
That's from this page.
The name of the post is "上戸彩".
So no, it's very unlikely that morbiuswilters is a female Japanese singer pretending to be a male Ameri
ckkan coder or whatever, but somehow forgetting that the photo he used was of a female Japanese singer.
IN RELATED NEWS, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT BEN L IS A CAT SHAPED BAKED GOOD AND DA_DOCTAH IS A DROOLING BABY.

Assuming you don't understand when people are making jokes, I'll explain the joke:
It's a joke.
-
Assuming you haven't read any posts by me, I'll explain the joke:
I know it's a joke and I'm ruining it because I'm Ben L.

We need a button. Or somebody with a bottle of water to spray at your face.

All right... all right... but apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?

People called Romanes they go the 'ouse?

I've also found that if I write sentences between double quotes, they get turned into a blockquote.
He's definitely male.
Not with today's technology.
-
I took that hue-sorting test the url of which I don't remember, and I ace it every time, but apparently other people are blind or have really crap-configured monitors, because they said things like "OHHH 90% SO CLOSE" and nonsense like that.
Colour-blind people get a pass, of course, but I don't think my colour vision is that superior?

Yeah, none of my ancestors two thousand years ago were anywhere near Rome. Belfast, Glasgow, and probably Florida, most of 'em.

Wait, doesn't @Nagesh only get one notification per mention per user per thread?

Crap, I think you're right. Moving on.
