I thought education was a priority for the UK government
-
I went to the doctor today, and in the waiting room, spotted this on the wall:
FFS. WTF are they trying to achieve with this? It's demeaning to smart kids, who know how to spell (you're under 18, you must be retarded!), and it encourages shitty spelling and grammar. Do they think that the idiot kids will suddenly find the GP cool as a result of this?
-
This is actually a warning sign that you've gone to a poor clinic and should look for a different one.
-
I think I should look for a different country. Any recommendations?
-
I hear Canada has free health care. You might have to wait for a while to get in though.

My favorite bubble: "This should be taken seriously"
And what's the person underneath doing with that lamp?
-
I take it you haven't had the misfortune to be subjected to children's television lately. It gets more stupid every year. I'm not sure how they do it.

Mine, too. Would make a good avatar or band name.

I seriously said "Oh FFS, play Teletubbies already, it's less stupid!" the other day.
Now that is sad.

Welcome to India! Bring your money with you.

How's your healthcare system?
Modeled after British. Same long wait lines for free health care. Much longer since Government hospitals can only do so much Also a very expensive private healthcare system, where some healthcare provider is running hospital and is also a corporation.

Well, it says in the fine print that
"This poster was designed by young people"
So maybe the designers were actually illiterate.
Filed under: who am I kidding?

"This should be taken seriously"
Yeah, because it "shud" say, "This is srs bsns"
By the way, awesome nesting of quotes when I quote only the quote....

Education is a serious matter for the UK government, except for the purpose of making the country into idiots so they don't realise how dangerous the government is.
A smart population is a dangerous one. They can see through the bullshit.
-
"This poster was designed by young people from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The National Children’s Bureau led its creation and design with the help of Children in Northern Ireland, Children in Scotland and Children in Wales."
If this was really a good idea, then kids would design -- school curriculum; children's tv shows; apps for kids. Imagine what toys young boys would actually play with if they were allowed to design them -- bows and arrows with real arrows; cops and robbers with real guns and real money; real lightsabers; tanks and spaceships and bombs.
And; nothing would ever be spelled right.

And forum software would be written in LOGO?

Surreptitiouslyf'n autocorrect{WAS right first time and second... derp}
Surreptitiously look around for NAMBLA t-shirts, if you spot one run do not walk — run to another bar.

On the subject of bears, I have spent several happy hours beating the crap out of bears.

Talking about education is a priority for most governments.
-
Fortunately they seem to have shifted Michael Gove out of that position. Maybe someone marginally less incompetent will replace him. As it's a woman, there's now guaranteed to be accusations of 'promoting women in parliament' rather than getting the right person to the job.
-
I don't even.
-
GMC is an independent organisation representing doctors. It's not part of the Government as such, though it was formed by statute.

Why look for the shirt? There are easier ways to spot Marlon Brando lookalikes.

Interesting graph of the day:
America's spending on health roughly double the average of most OECD countries, but life expectancy still lower than most European countries (UK included).
-
The "young people" who designed this probably wrote it with correct spelling, because they're teenagers, not morons. Then whichever government idiot was in charge of the final result decided it was not "hip and cool" enough and replaced all instances of "you" with "u" and "to" with "2".
The only thing it's missing is a ninja turtle saying "Cowabunga dude!".

Doctors have the questions. U've got the answers
Do not ask your doctor questions.

I thought that Ed Milliband is ready to fix everything.

I thought that Ed Milliband is ready to fix everything.
:snork: !
For those who don't know the Leader of the Opposition, or his brother who almost got his job:
Ed Miliband eating a sandwich:
HIs brother David, holding a banana.
Neither of these are photoshopped.
-
I listen to just enough Radio 4 to make that joke, despite being American.
-
I hate to say it but I think I'd rather have either of the Milibands running the country than Cameron and his lapdog.
-
I don't know these guys because nobody cares about UK politics, but what's wrong with making funny faces when eating? You're smooshing your face all around to mash food, because we evolved faces with smooshy parts for just that purpose.
And the banana dude looks like he may have a sense of humour and knows what's going to happen to the picture.
I'd vote for either of them. I already said I know nothing so I'm fully qualified.
-
It could be worse.
