Finally - a completely logical date format.

• I've been adding some features to a program at work, and at one point had to view old transaction records in accounting - imagine my glee to see:

Enter date in this format: 06/05/06

What's wrong with that?
That's quite clearly the new dd/yy/mm format. And, as such, they're obviously talking about the third of february 1705

SELECT accdate FROM transactions

        06/05/06
        12/01/05
        08/12/06
        27/11/06
        10/30/05
        05/05/05
        06/06/12
        03/01/31

What could ever go wrong with that? He, he, he.

        -dZ.

AMATEURS!  All of you!

Clearly the date in the example is August 27th 1991.  That can only be 60506 (in octal, of course) days since June 23rd, 1912.

(What?!  You don't celebrate Alan Turing's birthday like the rest of us?)

• Just out of curiosity, how long ago did this happen?

I hate to actually try and understand this, but I wonder if the '06/05/06' was dynamic and was showing you the date for 'today' in the correct format?

Like I say, just curious and nonetheless, still a WTF.

• I think my birthday of 06/06/06 would have been even better.

As opposed to, say:

07/07/07
08/08/08
09/09/09
10/10/10
11/11/11
12/12/12
13/13/13 (for those on the lunar calendar)
??/14/14 (the ever-popular WTFuary)

does that make you 6 weeks old or a century old?

either way it's creepy.
