Must have been a permission issue. Oneboxing posts from other categories still works.

Correct, oneboxes don't ever update at the moment unless someone edits the post and forces a rebake.
One thing we could do, is force a rebake on references to posts that get edited, but I think this can be deferred for a while. The workaround is, perform a no-op edit on the post to rebake it.

Doesn't discourse prevent no change edits due to 'too similar'?
