Trying to find alternative word that could fill B*****M
There. FTFY.I ended up on a crossword search site only to see them advertise this:
Ofcourse I couldn't resist and for once clicked the add, only to get ...
Probably just the add landing page? No the home page has the same
issuefeature as well.
So if you would like to have a Discourse board hosted, I agree a rather big if, but if you wanted to do that, definitely stay clear of these guys.

Something about by design. Something about doing it wrong.
-
Hey, at least CtrlF works there!
-
The domain name is no coincidence, it seems.
Edit: According to whoismind, the domain registration has already expired.

Isn't that the Belgian flag? Why would anyone mask Belgium?
-
I wonder how @blakeyrat feels about HHGttG jokes.
-
Isn't that the Belgian flag?
It is. Well spotted, Sir! Did google help you?Why would anyone mask Belgium?
Because "Belgium" is considered an offensive word in these parts.Edit: well, obviously not only in these parts.
Edit 2: This explains why readers of the English version might not get the joke.
Filed under: and I thought I had forgotten a HHGttG reference

Weird, my copy has "Belgium" too. I'll check the publisher when I get home.
That's weird if the story really went that way. I thought that Belgium was the original joke. I mean, it is way funnier that way IMHO.

Ah - that's putting a few things into context then. I knew the US were fond of bowdlerising popular works, but that's taking the
pissMichael...

This snippet from google books goes into some detail on the original radio series ("The Rory Award") and clearly states that "fuck" is the original word.
Edit: turns out "Life, the Universe and Everything" has been submitted to even more censorship than just replacing "fuck".

Why do that when DigitalOcean costs $10.00 a month. I mean besides the lulz and ability to pick up the phone to scream at someone about your inadequacies.
For me...I like pain. That's why I host my discourse site using the droplet docker method.
Chances are they do to.
In six weeks they'll start to get concerned and discover this oversight. Send them back to world of warcraft with no money to exhange for virtual in game items... that'll be a sore day... a red day for discoursehosting.com...oh well.

Pretty much that.

I think he meant, why do the $20/mo when there's a known $10/mo option.

I'd pay $10 for someone else to take over the pain of installing it.

God embedding things in posts on Android is tough. There!

What does that mean? It is not in URBANDICTIONARY yet.
First match on a google search works for me... (As it does for H2G2...)

Close. Very close. But you didn't get me, @Nagesh. Still, +1 for the attempt.

Here I am trying to get @boomzilla and you are saying I am not getting you.
This remind me of a time when several cricket game are being played on one single ground and Nagesh catch the ball, but it was the wrong ball.
-
I got this, but that is not telling much other than the joke on 42.
That's the right link to explain what H2G2/HHGttG is...

I got [this][1], but that is not telling much other than the joke on 42.

Don't ruin a perfect troll-feeding bait, @Nagesh!

I am expecting something along line of LOL / LOCAL / etc...
note: etc is very good phrase in any language. It is called वगेरा वगेरा in Hindi.
-
I am expecting something along line of LOL / LOCAL / etc...
It's simply an acronym for the series of books.
The jokes alluded to are, from the series. Vogon poetry, towels, Don't Panic etc.

is probably more what you're after.

-
@PJH: I think @Nagesh knows perfectly well what @boomzilla was referring to, but is trying to troll us.
See, HHGttG is in Urban Dictionary, but only in all-caps. And that's what @Nagesh was hinting at with his URBANDICTIONARY.

In certain editions of it, they actually referenced it as Belgium even in England; it's specifically mentioned in the live show for example.

No, nach bhfuil hindi teanga a labhairt liom.

Shame!Filed under: Those editions should receive the Orwell award for the most deceitful use of the word "Belgium" in a serious book!

No, it was a specific namecheck to the joke, rather than censorship. Gotta love live performances from the radio cast :D

I m not going to bother typeing now. Just saying word into microphone and recording it. Let me see you match up that that activity.

I am defiantly not @codinghorror
Well, that could just mean you're having an identity crisis. Now, if you were definitely not @codinghorror, we might be having a different conversation.

I'm surprised that @michaeld never posted in that topic.

readers of the English version
Mere readers can fuck off, like the little «arriviste» turlingdromes that they are. The original source material is the radio series (far funnier than the books or any of the other dross that followed it, or, at least the first couple of series were), and that explicitly references "Belgium" as being the rudest word in existence. The "Rory for the most gratuitous use of the word fuck in a screenplay" bit does exist in the (2004 reboot of the) radio series, and does use the word "fuck", unsurprisingly enough as it postdates the book. The Belgium joke is much earlier, somewhere in the second series IIRC, and predating the books.
Belgium, man.
-
The radio series is certainly the original for the first book and it's somewhat debatable especially seeing how Fits the Eighth onwards were first broadcast a few weeks after the second book's publication. Proving that one was written before the other is... difficult at best.
The Belgium comment does not appear in the current Kindle/English UK edition of the five books where the Rory Award is again for Most Gratuitous Use of the Word 'Fuck'. I don't have my copy of The Secondary Phase to hand to re-listen to however.
-
Well, mine is apparently the American edition after all:
Oh well. At least they didn't "translate" it to US English...

Thank you for providing that. As ever, the Guide is definitive and Reality is usually wrong

Eeek! We are obviously not affiliated, but that's not good -- have known these guys for a while. I emailed Michael to let him know that's going on.
