New users can not edit wikis properly
-
Continuing the discussion from TDWTF Forum FAQ:
That's just the thing, I tried, but it won't let me post the edited version because of too many links (even though I don't add any, maybe we could classify that as a bug?), I have to cancel the edit.
Either:
- New users have no edit wiki button
- New users are allowed to add as many links as they want.
Inviting them to edit a wiki and denying them on post is shoddy practice.
-
How about:
3. New users can have up to (insert current number) links in a post or keep the current links from before they edited the post.
That would also allow new users to edit posts that mods had helped them put links in without deleting the links.
-
\2. New users are allowed to add as many links as they want.
I'm not at all sure that's a good idea. It seems to me that
3. Only count links the new user adds, not the ones already in the article.wouldn't be too hard to implement. Otherwise, 1.

Yeah, I think that is best.

Absolutely fucking not, new users should not be able to edit anything. That's a straight up bug that we missed. Trust level 1 minimum.

Not being able to contribute to a community wiki is a barrier to communication.
-
I guess, but one could argue that not being able to publish tubgirl gifs is a barrier to communication.
-
I changed the default trust level required to 1, so I guess this can be closed.
-
Note ... I am only closing this cause its a bug in the meta category, would not touch any of the other topics in this inappropriate way.
