Check it out! This should be a big improvement for everyone ...

    First bug --

The "YOUR NAME HERE" link on the Sidebar is microscopic.

  • The main page displays only the 10 most recent posts. I don't get why there is no "next 10 oldest posts" link at the bottom, as any reasonable user would expect. Do you think you could add this?

  • That looks excellent!

The sidebar on the homepage is about 10% off of my screen (IE6, 1024x768), but the thread view looks great.

One question - how do I get into the forums?  The link bar on the right side of the top is missing the usual "forums" link (Welcome back User, Logout, FAQ, Forums, Contact/Submit)

  • I can't log into it... does it use the same database?

  • What is "ink" and how do I insert it? (Profile Options>Site Options>Enable Ink)

I'm having the same problem. Since I am continually forgetting and re-setting my password, my guess is the database has one of my old passwords, probably one of the computer-generated ones. Alex probably just copied the production database for development a few days ago.

I'm noticing the "off screen" effect as well -- seems to be from a code example -- i'll just lower the font size of PRE I suppose.

As far as the forums -- the link is in the Side Navigation, but I will put it up top too.

DB was pulled from same day of the front page post (2006-05-03).

  • I can't log in either.

Because it still has that stupid fucking WTF-worthy javascript pseudo-form.

    Simon,

Could you try this ----- enable Javascript, Logon, Disable Javascript, then try to use the site?

I suppose I could try switching that logon button to areal button, but i'm afraid the rest of the site wont work

  • It text-scales really well in FFX. And I text-scale by defautl, almost.

I'd spice up the quote-in-a-post style. It's barely noticeable as a quote, right now, all white and lightest-grey. Decent CSS selectors exist to things like giving nested comments strongs/lighter colours depending on the depth of the nesting. :) That's cool. Make use of it!

None of the links have mouseovers.
A site feels so much more responsive if it's got :hovers.

It seems a lot slower than the current version. Page load is longer. Maybe it's just me.

Still a JS error in FFX every time I press a key inside the reply textbox.
You know, us techies prefer a textarea with plain BBcode anyway.

I'm totally fixing up a slicker logo, just for kicks, because this pixelly one really doesn't match the softer tone of the new style.

Okay, tried that.  It lets me in if I do that, as expected, but nothing beyond normal browsing works.  No way to reply to posts, make posts, or even modify my account preferences. Goddamn fucking pointless javascript.  Give me the average 'ajax' developer for 5 minutes, I'll give you back an ajax developer with his fucking eyes poked out and his severed fingers rammed up his arse.  Yeah, shit like this makes me cross, you may have guessed.  Not at you personally Alex, you obviously have your reasons for wanting to stay with CS, but at the "accessibility doesn't matter" laisse faire attitude of the majority of the cunts working in my industry.

But hey, y'know, what the fuck.   I should really be working, rather than hanging out poking fun at other people's code.

Oh, and by the way.  The default font size is so small as to be unreadable.

And the home page gets 482 validation errors per http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Ftest.thedailywtf.com%2F

GG! You've just given me a new .sig.

I believe it's a way of inserting handwriting into posts. IIRC, you need to be using Internet Explorer, accept an ActiveX control from the site, and possibly be using a Tablet PC...
