The International 4

So the International 4 Dota 2 championship is coming up soon. And with a $6,000,000.00+ prize pool, you know everyone is going to bring their A-game.
Or not.

What is this DOTA thing the kids are always talking about?

Wikipedia has a nice explanation:
-
"the game was officially released on July 9, 2013"
It's not possible for people to have played this game long enough to warrant six million dollars of prize money.
At least Starcraft 2 is 4 years old, with many top players having migrated from SC 1.

Two things:
- Dota was released in 2003
- The prize pool is $1.6M plus a quarter of what people spend on digital ticket sales.

I don't think that matters. Dota2 is not old enough for people to have built up mastership of it.

You underestimate the spare time and dedication of an Asian teenager.

People actually play DOTA 2? I thought that was the game where you start a game and then 6 of the other players quit 10 seconds in, ruining it for everyone.

As far as I recall, DOTA 2 is essentially DOTA 1 as a standalone with a few things added. Mastership of DOTA 1 almost directly translates into mastership of DOTA 2.

I am skeptical of this, but at the same time I don't care enough to be really skeptical. What to do?

I'm gonna be throwing a super bowl style party at my place for this.

Eat some delicious food. Then take a nap.
This is the first good idea you've had in your entire presence in this community.
