TV Commercial WTF

  • Okay, I was watching TV last night and was baffled by the following commercial.

This guy is sitting with his head in his hands, bemoaning the fact that his health insurance is so expensive.  The voiceover guy introduces him to this insurance company ("Never heard of them...") that can save him money.  "Tell me more!", more voiceover, then he says, "I'm going to call them right now!"  Pulls out his cell phone and (wait for it!)...  hits the speed dial.

  • Sounds like a typical cheap poorly-designed commercial. For another example, see the commercial inside Ghostbusters.

  • He probably thought that God was talking to him, so he didn't really need a phone number. God would direct his call.

Or he thought he was going insane (hearing voices), so the speed dial number was his psychiatrist's.

  • He's obsessive with his speed-dial.  He's programmed every number in the phone book.

This problem will be fixed in version 2 of this idiotic commercial.

  • Maybe he had directory enquiries in his speed dial.
