Samsung "Support"

  • I gave Samsung Support every opportunity to provide acceptable customer service, and they have failed.
Last month, my 128GB Solid State Drive arrived, but their software refused to function, saying it was not a Samsung product. (see parts 1 and 2 in the image)
    1. The SSD Support contact form does not work in any browser.  (Technically I only tried Chrome, FF, and IE, but that proves the site sucks, even if Opera and Safari work)
    2. I sent an e-mail and was told to use either GetSatisfaction or their Facebook page.
    3. They do not monitor the GetSatisfaction page.
    4. Every request for support or escalation through Facebook was met with the same boilerplate.
    5. When I again attempted to get support through the website, I was met with further errors that they refuse to acknowledge or repair.
    6. Facebook support tried sending me to their ODD supplier.

They finally stated that they don't actually provide support for SSDs or software.
I have heard good things about the 840 SSD series and Magician, but I can't take advantage of these features, and I can't recommend that anyone else take a chance on Samsung products if this is how they treat customers.

  •  I have the 120GB Samsung 840,but I could never get the software to work (the short time I had Windows 7 on there). It just crashed instantly.

  • I still find it odd that a company that can cram hundreds of billions of transistors on a few square centimeters is incapable of testing a bit of software.

Seems that way, but they're completely different departments. Hardware making is done with highly advanced machinery, but drivers for it are still written by motherfuckers like u and i.

you and me. Or you, anyway.

I was aware of that, and of the differences between replicating a billion NAND circuits and writing low level Windows software, but it can't be that expensive to have a decent QA department. The product's reputation depends on it.

Speaking as a diehard Opera 12 user, I wholeheartedly agree.

  •  I had to get a desk top Samsung laser printer repaired under warranty once. The woman who recorded the messages for their computerized answering system sounded exactly like the blonde woman who greeted Bruce Willis to the flying hotel in The Fifth Element. (And may well have been her, since this is southern California, and the office in question was in Irvine.)

They directed me to a local factory certified warranty service center. Who couldn't be bothered to order the parts needed - prepaid by Samsung - for three weeks, and got really, really snotty when I called them out on it.

Last Samsung product I'll ever deal with.

  • Interesting. I recently returned to the United States after spending four years living in the Republic of Samsung, er, South Korea. Samsung is South Korea's biggest company, and has a reputation there for having the best product support bar none. I personally had a great experience with Samsung's support in South Korea. Seems that Samsung OtherCountry needs to take a lesson from the home office.

Of course, wherever you go, Samsung still doesn't know how to write decent software.

  • The first HDD I ever had that failed was a Samsung. Further more it took weeks and weeks of harassment from me over the phone before they sent me another(RMA). Fuck Samsung.

Samsung Support ritualistically disemboweled his parrot. That parrot had been in the family since before the Civil War. Have some compassion.

His parrot is not more? It has ceased to be?

Really? I would have thought one of the cats he CENSORED! would have taken care of that.

That's inhumane. Cats should never be censored.

He also posts really big images. (Ben L, not the dead parrot.)
