Why bush didn't help Louisiana

  • According to my father-in-law it's because the people of new orleans was afraid that the national guard was going to take over their city.

  • What does this have to do with computer programming, and the general thesis of the site in general?

  • To be fair, he did post this in the "Side Bar" WTF forum where it belongs.  In addition, some would say Bush's entire presidency and administration could be summed up as one big WTF, so I don't think he's out of line.

But back to the question at hand, I think the answer is obvious: "President Bush doesn't like black people".  [:D]  Mike Myers' reaction was the funniest work he's ever done.

  • Hate to say it, but the real WTF is this post. Fuck off.

  • Poor Dubya, people doesn't even capitalize his last name anymore, or was that some kind of vegetation?

  • Is 'bush' some kind of new slang for weed?

Hey!  I hear that Bush is one of your national heros, like Paula Bean or the guy who invented Payback.  Don't be so disrespectful.

BTW - Has anybody watched Loose Change?

9/11 has certainly grown a whole class of conspiracy nuts. But what do you expect in a country that thinks Oliver Stone got JFK's assassination right?

The frustrating thing is that the evidence presented by the conspiracy nuts is more plausable than what the government presents.

    How so?

It seems to me that the number one problem the conspiracy nuts have - for any conspiracy - is that people can't keep their mouths shut. Somebody involved in the thing would have told somebody else, or even talked in his or her sleep, probably, and the conspiracy would unravel. (There is an argument against this - that people have talked, but no one will listen to them. I'm not sure if there's anyone out there saying they were in on a 9/11 conspiracy, and now they want to come forward.)

Another problem is Bin Laden, Moussaoui, et al, aren't shy about taking credit for it. Are they dupes? Have they been hypnotized or something?

Last, Popular Mechanics published an excellent debunking of many conspiracy myths. I won't bother to post the link here, unless someone really needs it (I don't have it handy myself).

Unfortunately, the nature of debunking conspiracies is that the debunker can't be trusted, since he doesn't agree with the person espousing the conspiracy theory. Every move is countered by more FUD. But left unchecked, conspiracy theories slowly move into the realm of "real history," until the facts are so faded and torn that the matter little anymore.
