I'm working on a paper and totally drawing a blank so I thought, what the hell, I'll ask thedailywtf.
What is the word to describe the property of a system that means it does only one thing? I mean for example, you don't want the grep program to check your email. That just wouldn't be useful. You want grep to do one thing and do it well. You want it to search files. So we say that grep is ________
