Yeah, that will prevent cheating!

  • So, I was looking for some worksheets for my pupils. Found some fitting to the current topic at a school book publisher. Because I hadn't yet signed up at this particular publisher, for a proper teacher's account I'd have to print a form, sign it, stamp it with the official school seal and then either send it by mail or fax it.

Par for the course, so far. However, I wanted them somewhat sooner than in a week and so I thought to myself: "Okay, let's try a 'private account'."

Didn't work, however, because only teachers are allowed to download the documents. That only makes sense if they're afraid of pupils downloading the worksheets to get at the answers in order to cheat.

Yeah. Might've worked. Take a look at the page in question and click on "Vorschau" (German for preview). And you'll glean pretty quick as to where their "Let's prevent cheating!" thought process fell through. First entry on the page is a summary, 2nd one is the worksheet, 3rd one are the solutions.

  • Is it to prevent cheating, or to prevent people downloading the documents without paying for them?

Well, since they explicitly stated that this material is for teachers only, I'd tend to the former opinion. I since then discovered that the worksheet consists of articles and pictures which mostly can be found on the 'net (due to the preview listing everything). You have three guesses as to how I proceeded.

  • BINNED

But there's a goat behind door A, so shouldn't you pick door C instead?
