IT WTF in a Small Town

Recently, a radio station in my hometown released a mobile app for iOS and Android. I took a look into it just to see if it was any good.

The results:

The logo they used looks as if the Wayback Machine puked all over the 'Net.
The overall design is so atrocious that it makes Geocities pages cry.
The sliding menus are non-intuitive (as in you must press the slide as if it were a button).

The firm that did the app also has others in the App Store. They all look eerily similar (read: replaced the logos, pull from another feed, and changed the color schemes).

I know that as a developer that I don't always think of a good design, but seriously, just...well...I need some Pepto just thinking about it.

I won't name the radio station to spare them the humiliation, but the developer was Securenet Systems Inc. Also, after checking out Securenet Systems' website, I wonder why Linux uses them.

I don't know whether it's their bad coding or just my combination of Firefox with a million tabs open, assorted privacy-enhancing plugins, and lack of available memory, but I particularly like how, as the logos jump-scrolled erratically across the window, they eventually got layered on top of each other, so that none of them were readable.

Not sure which Securenet Systems you're talking about, but I can't find anything about them being web designers and/or develpers. They provide hosting and radio streaming services.

The OP didn't say they were web developers; he said they developed an app for streaming the local radio station to mobile devices, which is part of Securenet Systems' service to their radio streaming clients.

Their customer testimonials are...somewhat bizarre. It appears to be a collection of snippets taken from emails with clients, I would guess from the "Issue Resolved" section of their support team.

Yeah, I noticed that too. If it's any indication to their overall design "philosophies," I wouldn't be surprised if there are any other "Easter eggs" that contribute to their overall "quality".
