Yandex.st?
-
Is it just my machine or is thedailywtf.com trying to pull down a css file from the apparently Russian site yandex.st?
-
That appears to be justyou. According to Firebug, all network connections are good.
Edit
Woop, spoke too soon. It's the front page.Doesn't look suspicious to me. Could be part of a library for cornify.js
-
Glad to hear that it's not just me. Yes, the only place I noticed it was on the front page. It seems to be trying to pull down a file called default.min.css
-
It's something to do with Remycorns or the such:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://yandex.st/highlightjs/7.3/styles/default.min.css"> <script src="http://img.thedailywtf.com/images/remy/highlight.js/highlight.pack.js"></script> <script>hljs.initHighlightingOnLoad();</script>
-
Why do you say "apparently Russian"? The .st domain is supposed to be São Tome & Principe.

Yandex is a large Russian ISP.

It looks like they bought the .st domain. They are located in St. Petersburg. It is not uncommon or unheard of for entities to purchase domains outside of their country of origin. .TV domain names, for example.

Well derp. Any large company run by non-idiots will immediately buy up all their domain names, regardless of the TLD.
-
Because when I Google "Yandex.st" the first result has a "Translate this page". Clicking it leds to a page where Google says it's translating from "Russian" to "English" but never completes.

Yandex is the Russian Google -- the largest search engine in Russia (60% market share). Which still doesn't answer the question why thedailywtf.com is pulling a .css file from a Russian website. Why not host it locally?
And here's a look at their offices in St. Petersburg

Mystery solved (sort of).

Our work proxy (McAfee) doesn't seem to like it. So thedailywtf.com takes a while to load now.
