000 NOT A REAL FILM

  • Guardian Movie Reviews

Look at the "This week's reviews" section.

Based on doing a Google search, this bug has been live for a while.

  • The real WTF (tm) is that the reviewer of "sunshine" first says the film is crap because of the bad science, and then he says it is an excellent film regardless of the science.

And now I am going to bed, I have had an WTF day.

    Not quite:

From a scientist's point of view, it's complete rubbish.

That would be like watching Star Wars and saying "Pfff, THAT can't happen..."

There's orders of magnitude difference. Star Wars is far more likely!

Sunshine beats previous competition (e.g. The Core) into bloody submission in terms of bad science. Force-wielding Jedi and homosexual androids seem positively mundane in comparison!

  • Star Wars never tried to be science...

However, other movies do try to be science. And then you get a lot of WTF's.

However I must say that Star Trek is pretty "realistic", aside from the Heisenberg Compensator.

What, that would be the "Lets drive a train into the centre of the Earth" Core? The "Our atomic bomb's not powerful enough so let's open the nuclear reactor by hand and use its plutonium to pep it up" Core? The "If the world stopped spinning gigantic space lasers would destroy Rome and San Francisco" Core?

Damn, I'm gonna have to go and see this one :D
