So, apparently this magical, revolutionary Linux variant (based on Debian) that "PC User's all over the world are downloading" will "[make] your Windows PC 100% immune to Viruses & Malware" by running Windows... in a Virtualbox VM. Because of course running an operating system in a virtual machine makes it magically immune to viruses and means it no longer requires security updates.

    I love this part, too...

Your Microsoft Windows PC freezes up frequently causing you to lose all your hard work and data because Windows is not a modern operating system. Instead it uses a highly inferior proprietary, out of control software registry to glue their ancient legacy 1980's MS DOS 4 bit file system to every one of their new versions of Windows graphical user interfaces. Every previous or new Windows version is nothing but a fancy paint job with the same inferior software code inside it. Don't beleive it? Then ask Microsoft why you still have to defrag your hard drive in this tech world where no other operating system requires that time consuming monkey business. That proves they still use MS DOS for their file system. This is the truth!

I'm going to take it that the last version of Windows they could have possibly actually used would be ME.

For the record: I've never actually used Linux long enough to develop an opinion either way on how I feel about it beyond not wanting to throw it at a wall like I do any machine I have to use running OSX, but this distribution looks to be some kind of joke.

So, it took them two years to get Debian, slap on some ugly OSX-esque launcher and bundle Virtualbox with it, then claim it makes Windows immune from everything nasty out there. I'm still trying to figure out if this is some kind of satire of Linux users or they're deadly serious about everything they've written, spelling and grammatical errors and all.

EDIT: I am reasonably sure they've just woken from their TimePods (or whatever) because apparently IBM have made an Android tablet or phone.

Did you know that 50% of all computing devices today cannot run Microsoft Windows, but Unix & Linux runs on 100% of them?
I was going to vote for humanity, that no one could possibly be that stupid but... The buy link does appear to be active. A steal at only $80.

Also, if I'm reading that right, it seems to have a bundled XP image in the install.  I wonder if Microsoft are aware of this.

I think it's something you get to download. But only after sending them a photo of your COA, which makes it okay.

Smart money is on that it's activated with a stolen corporate key.

Stolen corp keys regularly get blacklisted. VirtualBox can be persuaded to look enough like whatever OEM BIOS you like to let it run an OEM edition of XP with a SLP key, which doesn't need activation. If they did it that way, there would be no technical (as opposed to legal) means of disabling that key; doing so would affect all the legitimate users of that OEM edition as well.

We need more layers. Let's put Robolinux in qemu in cygwin in Windows XP in Microsoft Virtual PC in Wine in Ubuntu in Microsoft Virtual PC in Wine in Ubuntu.

All the processing power of all those different operating systems COMBINED! Why has nobody done this before?

Actually, it's neither. I see this all the time, its a typical scammification of an open-source project. OpenLibreOffice and Firefox are the typical targets, though; this is the first I can recall that targeted Linux.

You take code you didn't write, bash the leading commercial competitor in ways that don't even make any damned sense, poise your cheesy rebranded knockoff as a miracle cure to all these problems most of which you just pulled out your ass, and then charge $$$ for the resulting excrement. Bake at 350°, serve chilled.

The sad part is, people then complain to the legitimate developers thinking they are entitled to support since they paid someone for the software, meanwhile the scam artists laugh all the way to the bank.

That explains one thing that was bothering me: if they were as stupid enough to believe the claims they are making, they shouldn't have the required technical aptitude to build their own distro.

Their target audience is morons, not necessarily they themselves.

Edit: I also like how they say a lot of independently verifiable things about Linux in general, without saying anything in particular about their own product.

Actually, most German nouns do not make plurals with "s". It's typically words of foreign origin, such as Kino, Chef, or Kamera.

It is true that Japanese has no singular/plural (usually you construct the sentence to get the number across to the listener).

Microsoft would probably say that "no other operating system" includes all versions of Windows made in the last seven years.

  • In Finnish, the form of plural depends on the ownership form. For a basic form, the typical ending is "t". E.g. "car" -> "auto", "cars" -> "autot". If there is ownership implied, plural form is the same as singular and plurality must be otherwise expressed. E.g. "your car, your cars" -> "autonne, autonne".

Finnish has a lot of suffixes though. E.g. "I wonder if we should hop around" -> "hypittäisiinköhän". The base form of "hop" is "hyppiä", and the rest you can imagine. For this reason Finns typically get all the suffixes of English right on the first try; the linguistic sensitivity to them is great.

In Swedish the plural is very dependent on the base form, but the most common plural endings might be "r" and "ar". Might also be "er", or something completely unrelated.
