In C# it might be:
[Obsolete( "This method violates naming conventions and is deprecated. Use writeVacancies instead." )] public void writevacancies() { writeVacancies(); }
Which throws up a build warning with the message there, but doesn't break the build. This is good for refactoring methods without breaking external things that depend on them.

TRWTF is case-sensitive languages. If it wasn't for that, ugly abuses of your sanity like this would not be possible.
