Trouble with todays thread?

  • Apparently some jokers have DoS'ed the main forum ("Self-documenting comments", page 2).

Is it possible to get those posts deleted ? I figure this must be done directly in the db - My browser simply stalled, cpu usage through the roof  (101%, anyone?), about halfway through the page.

What browser are you using? Using Firefox, the page is still loading but my CPU isn't anywhere close to being maxed out.

    Sincerely,

Firefox maxes out my CPU for minute or so it takes to load and render. It does that pretty often for heavy pages (especially when already-drawn elements have to be shifted around at all) that download faster than they render, and the processor's only 2 years old.

If you have hyperthreading it would only max out one execution unit.

Thankfully it's gone now, trolled away =D

  • I had to kill my Firefox after Windows started thrashing, I noticed that superman browser used ~ 140 MB of memory.

  • I do hope they work on that KingKong-sized memory footprint of Firefox.

    It restores very slowly.

After much cajoling and flaming, the astonishing memory leaks became a priority for the 1.1 release (now 1.5) and I can confirm that they have indeed fixed it in the betas. =D (In fact it was in trunk nightly builds months back, but I stay away from those now that I finally have some stability.) I can surf huge scans all night without building up a 600 meg leak.

You forgot "by definition". Besides, my production servers are usually at over 300% during peaks. Having 4 CPUs allows it up to 400%...
