  • How many time do you touch the screen? We are too used to mouse and keyboard. touch pad on laptop itself is nuisance value. touch screen is another nuisance value. maybe you are watching and influenced by glass company commercial like Corning. If you see that commercial, it is not different from talking about flying cars and talking horses.

Similar situation: CD-RW/DVD began to develop a fault where it would spin up for a bit then slow down to a crawl, the head making plenty of disk-seeking noises to fetch data off the disk. Happened with several DVDs, but would read CDs okay.

Hinge bracket on one side broke (was unaware of it) so only the other side was hinged. I later discovered the metal poking out of the casing - pushing the lid back far enough exposed the snapped bracket. It survived on just the one hinge for a bit longer before finally snapping. A new hinge and lid assembly case was quite a bit, even going by eBay prices. I was going to cannibalise parts from an identical machine at work until I heard it'd suffered the same fate.

For the 2 years or so I used it, it did the job I wanted it to, but a mate's Thinkpad had a better screen, easier keyboard, more robust build and lasted longer than mine. For the price the company paid I don't feel it represented value for money, compared to his (then again, he worked for IBM).

They may *look* nice kit, but IME they don't last and feel like budget kit hiding behind an expensive badge.

Maybe they sell different and more roubst units in India. Also we are more careful with posesions that belong to company, unlike some americans and british people.
