You tried to fix my code, so I'll delete yours

  • What posseses some people?

I've come across dickheads in my time.. but has anyone ever worked with someone who thought this was acceptable behaviour?

.. and didn't know about backups?

  • If your attempt at revenge is so poorly conducted, I don't think you count as a dickhead.  Your incompetence saves you from that designation.

Yeah, smarter move is to make changes to code instead. Increase workload for fellow college.

  • I've never met anyone in my field who was this special kind of deranged. People've been dumb, or smart, or lazy, or hyperactive, misinformed, underinformed, overengineers, incompetent, argumentative, stubborn, rational-- but never full-on lunatics like this.

I don't know where you get these blokes.

  • I'm most alarmed by this line:

(I go on a break. When I come back, my boss has given the worker access to my files.)

Some junior developer asks "hey, can I have full read/write access to this other person's files?" and the boss says "sure, here you go!"

Yeah, I hate that. And I've seen plenty of them in the field.

I was just having a chat about crops and farming so I was a little confused when I read that.

Yeahhhhh... I'm not too worried about it.. I read it as "I want access to their code", given they're all devs. I don't think the boss expected that dev to begin committing acts of sabotage.

I suppose TRWTF is the boss' answer should be "yeah - they're in the CVS. Why are you bothering me with a question like that?"
