if ( ((Boolean)((Vector)rtn.get(j)).get(0)).booleanValue() ) { commentString.append((Float)((Vector)rtn.get(j)).get(1) + "(" + df.format( (Float)((Vector)rtn.get(j)).get(3) ) + ")"); } else { commentString.append((Float)((Vector)rtn.get(j)).get(1) + "*(" + df.format( (Float)((Vector)rtn.get(j)).get(3) ) + ")*"); }
Hope I typed that right ... like it matters.

The redundant line is the least of your worries …

What is the point of using an object oriented lanuage if you don't define your own classes. Avoinding stuff like this is half the reason for getter and setter methods.

((Vector)rtn.[b]get/b).[b]get/b
But it does have getter methods.

YARL! is the sound I made when seeing that line.

Be grateful, at least it doesn't have single letter methods.

Small comfort; that person's probably currently working on fatter methods.

I heard the USPS were working on letter methods. edit: actually that was a really lame joke, sorry.

Make the getter single letter; that would make it so much better. Better yet: a single letter setter!

Setter? I never even metter!

Come on guys! We still haven't used fetter, wetter or debtor!
Actually, even on the Internet, I don't want to go there.
-
I wrote a script because I couldn't be arsed to write them all out in pencil and calmly choose one for the next pile-on. I didn't even realize fetter was a word, but it did inspire me to go with fatter.
The OP's look kind of like splatter methods, though.
They're definitely a mad hatter method.

Cease this banal natter.

Better than anal batter.

This is all perfectly straightforward.
Put two stars inside the comment if there's not a boxed up boolean from a getter of the zeroth of a Vector that is casted, where the Vector that is casted is the getter from the rtn and the rtn that is gotten is the rtn in the comment.

When a Vector has getter that takes params and a nought
And the result is numeric that will tell you what is sought
And conditional upon that you append just what you thought
Then the buffer appender format has exceptions to be caught!

Bravo!

Give that poet a Dr Seuss medal!

Let’s not forget that if you go off the end of the vector (get(j) returns null) the whole thing blows up in a NullReferenceException.
