Visual Studio two thousand and something

It's a small WTF, but apparently to finish the walkthrough called "Walkthrough - Creating a Basic Isolated Shell Application (Visual Studio 2012)", you need to have the Visual Studio 2010 SDK installed.
-
Most probably a typo.
-
Most probably a guide that was for 2010, and then the page got added for 2012 and not updated.
-
It might not be a typo, or even incorrect.
The Visual Studio SDK is for developing software that runs as add-ons or extensions to VS. The SDK may not have changed even though VS2012 has been released, since you can write an app for either system. If there is no functional difference for extensions there would be no value to creating a new VS2012 SDK - it would be a name change

This is almost certainly the answer, as the VS2008 version of the page just mentions the "Visual Studio SDK" with no year. If you click "how to get the VS SDK" link, the resulting page mentions the 2012 SDK.
Bit of a stretch to call a lack of update a WTF.

For a group that changes their online documentation as frequently as MS, I think we can say that it's a WTF not to update that.

The main functional difference would be that it's impossible to create a VS2012 extension without the VS2010 SDK. And you guys are right, this is simply the 2010 guide which was copied as-is to the 2012 guide.

You can certainly say it, but that doesn't mean that's what it is.
