What, I need a subject now?
-
Yeah, that ad had me going "WTF? IIS doesn't even have a free HTTP
compression module?" for a while. Maybe it has, maybe it doesn't but
I'd never pay for HTTP compression for a server whose security is like
swiss cheese.
And about Mono, it might be based on a framework created by Microsoft
but AFAIK they're not using any code from their framework so it should
be safe.
-
Oh great, the "Post" button creates a new thread. And I can't even
delete it because there's some "time limit" enabled. This forum
software really is a WTF.
If a mod sees this thread, delete it.

Microsoft code doesn't actually automatically make things break, you know :)
And yep, modern IIS does apparently come with a gzip thingy; according to their site, it isn't very good, tho.
-
yeah. this software sucks. if you hit "Reply" it creates a ..........reply..........to the message you want to........reply......to.
that's crazy.
-
I still think that it's rather dumb to have a reply button in every
message while each of them seem to have the exact same function. Also,
every other forum I've used has the "Reply" button where the "Post"
button is in this one.
-
The forum software is just bullcrap. For a while I stopped trying to post altogether because I got so aggravated after losing every single post I tried to make on the WTFs of several consecutive days.
-
The whole idea of the thread creation button being part of the controls
for another thread always baffled me. If you want it on every page,
move it to some place where it doesn't look like a topic-specific
control. Lots of board software is guilty of this.
As to this package, all the good forum software is php/mysql, which
this admin ain't happy with. vBulletin is PHP, Invision is PHP, phpBB
is, well you get it. Forums are written in php. Whether they should be
is another topic, but they are.
-
Snitz Forums comes to mind; it definitely has a more conventional user interface. No idea about the quality for the codebase, though.
-
Err, that would be Snitz Forums.
-
-
Seriously, can you stop necroing threads now?
-
-
Necro all the threads!
-
-
Agreed. So long as they're relevant today, why not lift off their discussion?
Filed under: Why by you, when you can be NEW?!

Hedgy is not going to be amused ...

It's never too late, it can still be deleted.
If they didn't want to do their job back then, why would they start now? Also, this thread should still exist in Blakey's mirror of the forums. The Web forgets nothing except the info you urgently need.
