WTF on WTF ?

  • I was just reading the main page on WTF daily, trying to find new BAD
code, MISSUSED tools, the kind of thinks that make me think that VB
coders should switch to VBScript not to C#, the kind of think i REALLY
do not want to see in real life at office... and on the first page I
    saw this ad :

    Visual Studio 2005

Herramienta para realizar tus ideas Consigue tu copia Beta 2, pruébalo

    Ads by Goooooogle

    :-|

  • What's wrong with Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2?

  • So what about it? Are you asking for... forget it--I'm not even going
to hazard a guess as to what language that is, and make a fool of
    myself with my non-liberal-arts education.

What language is your browser asking for? I would assume that
thedailywtf.com always responds with English, since it's an
English-speaking forum. Google Ads, however, would respond with
something appropriate for your language preferences.

OTOH, this could be a wtf at Google, but you're not being specific.

  • Google AdSense does wacky things sometimes. It once served a load of
ads for  George and Barbera Bush hand puppets on my site... (which
doesn't involve politics or puppet fetish-ism)

The ad is in Spanish, and states:

    "Visual Studio 2005
    Tool to realize your ideas
Get your Beta 2 copy, try it
    Ads by Goooooogle"

So I guess that the poster was pointing out the irony of the thedailywtf.com site offering recommendations for Visual Studio, after all the VB bashing that is done on the site.

Visual Studio isn't inherently evil. Its a WTF if that was what was
pointed out. VB is just a wart that got tacked on to the development
    suite.
