A WTF from Ancient History (i.e., Office 95)
-
This is a WTF I caught a long, long time ago. I've been waiting almost ten years to post this one. This comes from Word 95, but I'm pretty sure this also happened in later versions of Word. I swear I haven't altered this screenshot at all, except to blur out the text in the document...
So, what do we have here? A practical joker in the MS Office development team? A bit of debugging code that was never meant to be seen? A really bizarre Easter egg? WTF?

The Interface Hall of Shame contains a similar example. One tooltip
actually said something along the lines of "Read the help, stupid
user!". Apparently it wasn't supposed to be visible in the final
product, but there was a bug...
Morale: don't ever think things are under control.

there was another top tip there, something along the lines of : "stripes and plaids do not a fashion statement make"

i've seen this many times (in office 95 and 97), it has even been
translated in the localized version. however, the "run" had somehow
disappeared, and had been replaced with "work".
i liked more the tip from Warcraft II which said: "Never pet a burning dog."
