The "v" in the menus are not typos they are a clever indicator that the link is a drop-down menu, not a simple link. I will use this visual paradigm in all future web applications I work on.

Or some kind of image that is obviously not text, and possibly left-aligned. Even a different style to distinguish drop-down menus from menu choices.
Or a hand-drawn image, photographed on a wooden table, shrunk to the right proportions, ought to do it.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was a hack after trying for three months to get an expensive, messy CMS to display a drop down menu. Or maybe a lazy moron that wouldn't bother or lacked the competence of using an image (I say the chance of each is 50/50).
