    Lorem for Eternity

  • This is incredibly funny. ROFL! Great find!

  •  Maybe that's the actual epitaph.

  •  He was a web developer.

  •  Actually, it's not a tombstone, it's a conmemoration of a prize given to a writer and it's situated at the galegan language writers association.

So yes, it's even a bigger WTF when you put this in front of a bunch of so called writers.

If you work with XML, you could have '</life>' instead.

    I approve of these suggestions.

I shall be updating my will shortly.

Let's sing the web developer's hymn!

    ♫ One <head>, one <body>
    One <html>
One cup of Java which we script
    And we, though many
    Throughout the web
We are united in this one code!♫

If you bother to look past the first sentence, it's not the standard "Lorem ipsum" text.  The remaining sentences, according to Google Translate, read:

But the entrance the whole my whole drink not be published here.
We fear the mass, the course of one or more, that's fear.
This option lakes, yet more here.
We have one more very large vehicles.
Read more in this category rotrum the following child: and the lion.

Modulo some funky word order, and that "rotrum" in the last line that looks like it's been photoshopped, that hovers on the fringes of making sense.

I suspect a random lorem ipsum generator, myself. A professional association for writers in the Galician Language is extremely unlikely to be putting up text in Latin. Also, this claims (in Galician) to be an "Homage to the Author of our world" by one Paco Martin at the bottom, and your translation isn't really evoking that for me.

I'm with ubersoldat on this one.

If you post on Youtube a video of you singing this hymn I will click the thumbs up icon, then I'll get in a flame war about Obamacare on the comments below.

To be more precise, it is "an homage to the writer/author in his own land". So it can be as vague as anything and still be correct, I guess.

Also, I cannot see the last 2 images.

D'oh! I thought the religious overtone was a bit weird. You're right, of course. Mundo=world (at least in Castillian), terra (Galego)=tierra (Castellano)=land (English).

  • Fuck's sake! Tierra (Galego)=terra (Castellano)=land (English).

I think there's a smartass in the woodpile at Google.  If I ask it to translate just the three words "lorem ipsum dolor" from Latin to English, it says "Home", with alternative translations of "Contact", "Welcome to", "Welcome" and "Click Images".  Adding just the "s" from "sit amet etc" changes the offered translation to "The Pussycat Dolls".

Reminds me of the time I first showed Ask Jeeves to the guy in the next cubicle and pulled a random natural-language question out of my butt: "What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?"  Jeeves came right back and asked me if I meant an African or European swallow.

I am actually kind of tempted... never posted a Youtube video before, and this might just go viral... though I don't want to get my family excommunicated or anything! ;)
