Google adsense ads on TheDailyWTF..
-
I find some of the google adsense ads truly amusing on this site.
Having been here for a little while, it would seem that most of us are
in agreement regarding the total suckitude of Crystal Reports and
Oracle, but since they are mentioned in the forums, adsense puts
up ads for training for them!
Too damned funny.
-
Yes, agreed. I especially enjoy the ads for rubber stamps appearing on the 'Let's get a logo' thread.
-
Just reading that the two ads were:
"Put AdSense on your site!"
and
"Search Engine Optimisations"
-
The latest ad on this forum was "Momma Slappin T-shirts".
Holy White Trash!![:D]
-
Here's an interesting combination I caught earlier ...
-
Wow, you can use SQL Server to prove/disprove evolution? That's pretty neato.
-
Sure, just try:
SELECT *
FROM
universe
WHERE
created_by = @@GOD;
If your resultant recordset has >0 rows, you've got a good argument to disprove evolution...
(Ok, that was lame, but someone had to do it.)
-
Well, it may be a starting point, but proof of the existance of an
Intelligent Creator is not necessarily disproof of evolution. It would
seem odd to me to ascribe intelligence to any entity that couldn't come
up with a way of automating the process of creation, but perhaps that's
just the developer in me chiming up.
Don't get me started on the ID crowd, though. Let's not start implying
that religion has anything to do with science (or vice versa.)
[:S]Now that has to change the character of the google ads![:S]

I just got an adsense ad (while in the main forum) for a wizard to help
import text files into Access databases... I've only had limited
dealings with that horrible wannabe database, but I find it hard to
believe that it didn't come stock with the ability to import text files!
-
It does indeed have the ability to import form text, and also to link
to a csv file (or similar) and treat it as a read-only table in the
system. It can also link to a variety of other formats and treat them
as tables in the system.
-
Too bad I was too lazy to actually click think link. Then I could
have made a nickel for Alex, and found out what kinda magical stuff
this import-text-file-into-access-wizard thingy does...
I just can't see what it could possibly do to improve on the simple art of importing data from text files.
Maybe it's for non-programmer types who just want to read in their
recipes and have no idea how to use access, and somehow think they need
this in order to accomplish it. (Ie, if there is an advertised
product to do this, there must not be any way to do it without such a
product.)
-
Damn, I wish I could edit. Yes, I know there is Preview, but
sometimes you only see it after you've looked at it a second time.
Alex, will the new forum software have that feature?

The forum ate my post. The AdSense ads are almost as funny as the Human Immortality Device advertised, which itself is almost as funny as the Time Cube.
-
I meant the Immortality Device advertised on the linked site.

For some reason, when I post from home (Firefox / cable modem), it
often just sits there until the browser times out.... I'm now in the
habit of copying my whole post to clipboard to be prepared for
retries... Is anyone else experiencing this, or is my home
machine just messed up?
torpedo, those are excellent links!
It's really hard to say which one had me laughing more. The Time Cube
IMHO.
probably is the funnier of the two, having paused before posting this
to consider it further. It still pales in comparison to
Perhaps we need a forum for WTF websites (that aren't related to code),
Alex? I know there's a bunch out there, but one for/by us might be
nice.
I find many entertaining ones currently from www.memepool.com , FWIW to the rest of ya.

Woah, that time cube guy is seriously wired!
My favourite internut is www.deltastarr.org (I have read the 'Portfolio
of a Genius' cover to cover and still enjoy returning to it from time
to time. Imagine how the world would be if we all had this kind of
passion!)

Blue made this one appear, I guess [:O]

I think it is really funny how my thread on adsense is generating even
funnier adsense... People are going to start posting stuff just
to see what kind of adsense they can trigger[:D]

How much would this cost?

Ah, yep, good old Google AdSense. On one page of mine that mentioned
the Linux Kernel, it advertised a Chinese website that sells seeds
(kernal/kernel). On a MySQL C API tutorial, it thought readers would
like to purchase George and Barbera Bush dolls. Currently on this site
it's giving me German-language ads for some reason (not a German
computer, don't live in Germany and so on).
-
ROFL. There's an adwords saying "don't sign up for adwords".
-
I think this one has to be the best:
