"I wish to take input from a user in japanese"
-
I was going to come up with a witty intro for this, but I think it stands on its own.
"I have an application implemented using the concept of MVC. Now i wish to internationalize the application, thus when the user inputs the value in the text box, I wish to convert them to English before processing the input, thus i am trying to translate the input string to English in the controller. I not very sure, but i guess this can be done using,
string.Format(new CultureInfo("en-GB"), "StringInJapanese")
, but this does not output me the string in English. Can anyone suggest me a way in which this translation can be done?"(from Stack Overflow)

Well, he could try to have the app run all input through Google Translate …
-
Is Japanese the only language for which it doesn't work?
-
Maybe the original input wasn't in proper Japanese? Did he check the original Japanese for spelling mistakes?
-
The programmer doesn't realize how HARD a problem translation is.
-
Can't anyone read APIs nowadays? It is totally clear that it will only do culture info. So if you input "sushi", it will say "fish 'n chips". Some people...

Typical rookie mistake. He forgot to specify if he wants kanji or kana.

They apparently have a problem with the rational discourse that takes place daily on The Daily WTF.

We sometimes recommend solutions that aren't jQuery.

Well, @Ubersoldat did have an interesting idea, except I think it should be implemented as a browser extension, since we all know SO will never do something like that. Maybe sites other than SO can get in on the fun. No fair scraping ExpertSexChange.com and posting it all to TDWTF, though.
