For someone here

    Top picture is (supposedly) some sort of Pokemon reference.  It reminded me of someone here (who used to have a Pangolin avatar).

    Have I ever expressed any interest in Pokemon? Ever? I know nothing about it. I've never played a Pokemon game, nor seen the cartoon. Fuck, I know more about Viva Pinata than I do Pokemon.

    Why the fuck would you think of me?

    Also this video is cute.

    Remember in like 2001 when the first Pokemon movie came out and it was the most awesome thing ever? I'd never even played the videos, or even watched much of the show but Pikachu is SOO DAMNED CUTE. I don't even know why they bothered with the other 149 Pokemons. I went to New Zealand that year and believe it or not watched the Pokemon movie in Auckland and bought some direct-from-Japan Pokemon and Magic cards that I sold on Ebay for like 200% profit because that shit was cheap in New Zealand.

    Or this?  http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/p/25249/271509.aspx#271509

    I was always impressed at the localization of Pokemon. The first Pokemon movie has this joke about Vikings coming from Minnesota that either is a miracle of translation, or shows that the English translators had a ton of sway during early drafts of the script... either way, the result was impressive. (Of course, I'm also assuming the viking joke makes sense in Japan, maybe it doesn't.)
    Sorry.   I guess I fucked up and got you confused with the other Blakeyrat who posts here.

  • The fact that you looked all those threads up makes me LOL.

    And that .gif is plain hilarious.

    Anyway, yes. I have seen the Pokemon movie. THAT MAKES ME POKEMON EXPERT PERSON! Now you know. I am also an expert on:

    * Aliens

    * Mafias

    * Underwater aliens

    * John Agar

    * Aliens who are killed by water, yet inexplicably invade Mel Gibson's farm anyway

  • Don't forget your Klout.

    ...why?

    Have you watched any decent anime at least?

    I thought it was pretty entertaining. Obviously for kids, but eh. I'm sure the 4287 sequels they've made to it all suck.

    The only anime I've watched I'd considered decent is... hm. Akira. Steamboy. Princess Mononoke. Cowboy Bebop. Probably a few others I'm not thinking of right now. Edit: Grave of the Fireflies, duh. Also My Neighbor Totoro, double-duh. The latter being possibly the best kid's movie ever made ever.

    The problem isn't that I haven't watched anime, the problem is that all anime is shit. I've also, for example, seen Plastic Little and El Hazard. (Although El Hazard has its moments. I liked the combination cat/bulletproof vest, which was exactly as weird as that sounds.)

  •  Ha, you know that anime where the schoolgirl starts drooling in fantastical quantities when she's excited?

    Plastic Little is literally the worst thing I've ever seen. And I've seen Zardoz.

    I'll have to go with 99% of anime is shit, Cowboy Bebop being a case in point. That said, yeah, the overwhelming majority is like someone had explosive diarrhea on a piece of paper and then sent it in as a script to be animated, which is a pity because noone can break the Hollywood monotony like the Japs. Once in a blue moon they actually take it seriously and produce stuff like Denpa Teki na Kanojo or Death Note or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, which can blow primetime HBO series out of the water.

    Wow, that came out wrong. What I meant was Cowboy Bebop is in the good 1%.

    Shuttle Columbia in a Cowboy Bebop episode. Hate when an old show references a future where the object won't exist.

    ^- This was unfortunate, though

    I don't know, I enjoy it when older movies and series try to predict the future and get it wrong.

    Personally I'm waiting for 2015 to see if we'll have flying cars, realistic 3D projection, hoverboards and auto-dry clothes. So far it doesn't look good.

    If the rest of BTTFII comes true, we'll also have to deal with Max Headroom-like versions of Michael Jackson, Ronald Reagan and the Ayatollah Khomeini as waiters.

    And pizza that needs rehydrating.

    And wearing two neckties at once.

    And Jaws 19, in holographic 3D!

    I find it amusing that for all their predictions, there's two PHONE BOOTHS in the background of that photo. Reminds me of the MST3K snark: "so 50 years from now will be 3 years from now?"

    Maybe in 2015 a "phone booth" will be a place you can dispose of your old cellphone and get a new one.

    Watched the first movie recently with a young kid?  How'd you handle the question about "what's Pepsi Free?"

  • I sometimes play Pokemon Card and I have invented two puzzle games of Pokemon Card
