Seniority in project is blesing or curse?

  • If you become senior team-member in project, is it good for you or is it bad for you?

    Good Point:

You know all stuff about code and configuration files.
You get more family with database objects like table and schema and server location and column name

    Bad Point:
They want you to make sure other team-member complete their work in time.
This mean if you finish work quickly, you stay to help other team-members so they can also catch up.

Is it working the same way for you in your country also?

  • In America senior developers spend most of their time eating ice cream or in the Eroti-Sphere, a dome of infinite bodily pleasures.

I'm hoping to make senior in the next couple of years, then live my life out in luxury.

  • True Americans are cowboys.

Good Point: They are always the team lead.

Bad Point: They are the only team member.

Sorry! I am not team-leader. Team leader is somebody else who's always drink chai and smoke ciggy. I am just senior most developer in team.

Tag: Stop using racist slurs like "Indian".

    That ain't no native American.

And "some Bharati are cowboys too" doesn't work as wordplay.

You can't tell just by looking. Or are you saying all Injuns look the same to you?

I live in Arizona.  My next-door neighbor is Hopi.  Many of my other neighbors are Navajo, Apache, Tohono O'odham, Yaqui, etc.  The cowboy in the picture looks like none of these.  (And to answer the actual question, I can tell Pima Apache from Salt River Apache; can you?)

Most of the contractors at my office are from India.  The guy in the photo shares recognizable facial features with many of them.

So you're saying they did some kind of Native American pagan spirit guide ritual and removed your sense of humor?

True story: Native Americans had no concept of "trolling", which is why the white man was able to take all their land while making that weird distorted grinning face.

  •  If Morbs honestly can't tell dot from feather, I'd love to see what he makes of this guy:

Look, Naggy old chap:  it should be obvious from many past forum threads that a job title is not necessarily descriptive of that person's role, duties, functions or responsibilities. Your original post just reinforces the notion that you've been given a promotion of some description... but rather than ascertaining what this actually entils for you, you're asking us here whether or not this is a good thing for you.

How about this for a simple answer:

FIND OUT WHAT THE FUCK IT ACTUALLY MEANS, AND THEN DECIDE!

    That help much?

  •  Do the needful.

I try not to judge people based on their looks. That guy could be any of the five races: Black, White, Polynesian, Chinaman or Other.

One thing is getting some kind of project bonus in adding to your regular salary

'Other' judging from the googlesearch I did earlier. One clue being the name in the picture not being his real name - John Redd.

I found some people claiming he was Negroid.

Right. I can see it now...

Boss: Nagesh, we're making you Senior Most Developer!

Nagesh: What does that mean, Boss?

Boss: You're getting some kind of project bonus in adding to your regular salary.

    Nagesh: Great!

    ... some time later...

Nagesh: Hmm... I must have to be doing something else to warrant this project bonus in adding to my regular salary. But what? Should I ask the Boss? Plz send me the codez? No! I'll post on the WTF forums! That will clear things up for me!

    ... right...

Dude: congrats on the promotion and all that. Just... you *really* ought to find out from someone what it entails, else you're in for a world of hurt.

At least let your subordinates know of this site so they can post their WTF tales. Not about you, obviously. Honest.

Now Nagesh, don't spend that extra chicken all in one place!

    "Negroid"?

    What is this, 1854?

Maybe he's a Blackamoor.  Or an Ethiope.  Perhaps he's Nubian.

He could even be mulatto or quadroon, but probably not octoroon.
