Can't rename topics in Articles, only rename/move
-
I'm TL3, I get the pencil to rename topics in Articles, was going to add the :Fire: icon to Website Hacker. I get the edit text box but I can't save an edit to that category because I can't create topics there.
I can, seemingly (didn't try) move it out of that category, but I can't save an edit because that category isn't in the drop down.
For bonus points, I didn't even notice the drop down didn't say Articles, I made the edit, hit save, and got the "Sorry, an error occurred." modal, only then did I look as to why.

Maybe the article-topics are linked to the frontpage and therefor you are not supposed to mess with them?

'Tis not a bug, 'tis a feature. Don't touch the Article topics, flag for Jeffing if necessary. I thought that was a well-known rule...
-
So well known I didn't know it. I buttumed all the magic was done with ids therefore a simple renaming shouldn't be a problem...
-
It's in the category description.
"TL3s, please refrain from meddling with the topic titles in this category."
Why would you do that? That would break everything!
-
It's less about the breakage (because if we were to stop doing things that break Discourse we'd have to, well, stop using Discourse), and more about the courtesy of not meddling with things that face the main site.

was going to add the icon to Website Hacker
If it's gotten truly contentious, flag for jeffing to a thread we can put a in front of

Tell me that thread hasn't gotten contentious, after @boomzilla edited RacePro's posts.

I haven't looked at it lately.

It was contentious long before I edited the posts.
Only admins have permission to create topics in the Article category. I guess that also means that you can't modify a title without being an admin.
-
Which is why it's a bug. I shouldn't even have the option to edit or, apparently, move them out of the category. Note, I didn't try to move out but with Dischorse I have no idea whether it would work or not, or what it would break if it did.

Yeah, because we really needed those posts containing FUCK YOU repeated over and over in big bold letters to stay exactly as and where they were. It sure was @boomzilla's editing that made the thread controversial, and not, you know, FUCK YOU repeated over and over in big bold letters.
-
I'm not saying boomzilla was wrong to do it. I was merely citing as "shit got real" example.

Nonononono, shit got real like 50 posts before. By the time @boomzilla was editing the post, shit was not just real, but also filling the room and getting out the windows.
-
Sure it did. I was using it as a convenient point to point at to say "shit got real". Not "this was when shit got real" but "shit has gotten real, here's an example"
