Pimp my PC

  • There's case modding and then there's case modding. Wouldn't you love to walk into a PC repair shop with this?

  • Is the motherboard actually exposed like that?

Impacting the protection around components for the sake of fashion is utterly stupid. That may look great, but for all its robust appearance it'll have to be treated as an overly fragile thing when it gets moved, or things move near it (vacuum cleaners, pets, etc).

  • It also has no ESD protection at all

Computer components are cheap (and not really that fragile). A cool case like that is priceless.

     FTFY

Nonetheless, enclosing them in a complete cabinet will save the running costs of ongoing replacement when my cats get near.

It's not even a case... it's more pedestral decoration.

I find it ugly, meself, but YMMV. It's definitely art, just not... appreciated by me. My first though was that it'd been burned badly, my second though was "where's the rest of it".

    Philistine.

  • Best way to keep costs down - don't replace the cats.

I think you're missing the point of case modding. Like... utterly. It's a lot closer to ricing-up a car than it is creating a practical alternative to computer component protection.

Guess what? This isn't a very practical truck, either:

  • Yes modification for sake of modification is often impractical.
Impracticality in form should be avoided and proper aesthetics should be encourage in designs.

No "like" about it. "AM" missing the point, definitely.

Here in UK there's groups of youngsters (dudes, homeboys) that modify their cars (pimp up their rides) but generally do it to "dress to impress" - adding spoilers, go-faster stripes, flared skirts, larger wheel arches and the like.  However, impractical they may be for general purpose, it doesn't reduce the primary purpose of said vehicle: that which transports.

It's unlikely you'll find anyone "Kevving up" their car by removing a rear axle or chainsawing the roof corners off, just in the same way that the impractical truck isn't (I'm guessing) missing seatbelts, seats, some wheels and got a dented radiator.

It's not a phase I went through when younger, so I clearly lack appreciation for such artistic ability. I think.

Actually this is detrimental to the overall performance of the car.  And yes, young people are retards

And this case doesn't stop the computer from being a computer. True, it's more likely to suffer some kind of damage but it's still not that likely.
