XSplit showing why they are the leaders in video streaming technology

  • XSplit showing why they are the leaders in video streaming technology!

    Having a virtual monopoly!

(For the record, this isn't a notebook computer. It doesn't have an OEM, or I guess I am the OEM since I built it myself. The license I'm using comes from their web store. And my account name isn't %email%.)

  • Well, you really only have 3 choices to do video streaming stuff (at least on Windows).

    1. nVidia's ShadowPlay
    • Requires an nVidia GeForce 600+ card.
    • Can stream directly to Twitch.
      • Can only stream to Twitch and no other streaming services.
    • As far as I can tell, you can't put anything else on the screen.
    1. OBS
    • Open Source
    • Has... issues with some games, such as Alien: Isolation.

    Barely suitable for PC games.

Does not work at all for any capture cards I'm aware of. If you have a Hauppauge capture card and want to stream an Xbox game, good fucking luck.

There's actually another option-- Hauppauge Capture, but I think it has the opposite problem from OBS: it only works on capture cards, and not on PC games. Not unless you swap all your cables around and run the PC game through the card.

I am recording Alien: Isolation with OBS Studio and not having any issues?

    You are doing it wrong!

    OBS

It works perfectly with stuff I use it for.

  • To be fair, the last time I tried using OBS with Alien: Isolation was over a year ago. They may have fixed it by now.

I still don't even know why it was buggy as OBS worked just fine with other games I had tried it with.

  • You never tried it with an Xbox game.

  • I just got the same thing and it reminded me of this topic. The about screen says I have two free weeks of Premium, whatever that gets me.

  • necromancing the thread because... have you heard of FFSplit? surprisingly good, seems to work for a surprisingly wide range of games, even on dual-gpu laptop, which OBS can't do.
