I18n fail message box

It's christmas week and I'm pretty bored, so I decided to spend some time playing online poker. (Yes, I know that's TRWTF). Every single time I've started the PokerStars program before the auto-updater decided to download a mandatory update. But since I haven't played for quite some time now, I've probably missed more versions than Mozilla has put out this year.
So the auto-update goes ape-shit and bails out with this great message box:
Whoever wrote this didn't think of checking the current locale to choose a single language and must have been of the impression that the MessageBox API automagically provides clickable links. (">>Go to PokerStars.com<<").
Another funny thing is: I tried to ALT-PrintScreen to capture just the message box and read the rest of the content in Paint. This does, however, just capture the part of the window which is displayed on screen and even has the taskbar overlayed on the window. I would have expected this pre-Vista but not with the compositing DWM.
Copying the text to clipboard shows that there even is a Portugese version of the text beneath what's visible in the screenshot.
PS: Could someone please prune the tag cloud again? The page load times are insane.

TRWTF here is that you have Internet Explorer pinned on your start menu. Unless you're a web developer that's a waste of space there. Or maybe TRWTF is Vista? Hmm.

Perhaps this message would display properly (with links, language selection, etc) if it was rendered by newer (but still outdated) versions of their software, and they just didn't test what would happen in your case?

There was nothing there to entice me to give up Internet Explorer 9. So I continue to use IE. (I follow my gut, not the crowd.)
2) When I upgraded to a new computer a few years ago the only OS on them was Vista. So I ended up with Vista on my new computer. Go figure.
I, like a lot of other people who frequent The Daily WFT, are tired of the jabs at Microsoft. If it wasn't for Microsoft, people, you'd be playing some dumb game on your updated Commodore 64.

The majority of the Commodore 64 ROM was written by Microsoft - so that comment is TRWTF!

I worked at a computer repair shop when it launched, and it was a disaster when we started getting Vista machines that needed to be fixed. Drivers would mysteriously disappear and everything would run like crap and crash all the time. Of course these were all cheap "Vista capable" machines. "Capable" meaning "it'll boot, someday".
I didn't bother installing Vista until SP1 came out, and at that point it wasn't bad at all, especially since I had a computer that was capable of running it.

The C64 used Microsoft BASIC, which was pretty dreadful. Only the first two letters of every variable name counted, and there were no subroutines (just GOTO/GOSUB). I can understand these limitations when the Apple ][ shipped, but not with the Commodore 64, about which, let's just say that there was a BASIC supplied with a contemporary 6502-based micro that shipped with a mere 16 or 32 kB RAM, and this BASIC featured long variable names, named procedures and functions (which the manual teaches you right from the start — GOTO is discouraged from the outset), inline assembler (sharing BASIC variables and functions), sound and graphics commands, and more.
I guess the C64 was a taster for how the IT industry would pan out — cheap, flashy and half-baked. And good for games … after all, that's the main reason PCs win over Macs, right? ;-)
I don't necessarily blame Microsoft — it's a young industry that's seen a phenomenal amount of twists and turns in its short life to date, but it's sad at the very least that so much knowledge gets lost by the wayside. It's also unfair to blame Microsoft for brain-dead developers. It's not like Clippit's going to come out and smack people to death if they think it's funny to display a message box larger than the screen. (However, it illustrates a failing with typical non-X11 UI: the window should figure out by itself that it's too tall, adjust itself to fit, and display a scrollbar within any controls that won't fit, or the whole window if there are no scrollable controls; here, the label would be scrollable.)

Very unlikely. Given that the message text could be copied, it pretty much has to be using MessageBox. Other message box implementations don't tend to include that feature; hell, 99% of users knowing Windows don't know that that feature exists.

More from the auto-updater:
After I took the screenshot, I downloaded the setup and then wrote the original post. Then went on to install the new version and started it.
Guess what happened: Right, it had to update the application!That means they churn out so many versions that either
a) they don't bother packaging the newest version on their website anymore.
Or worse b) they pushed out a new version in the time it took me to write the post.It's probably a) but that's still stupid.
Regarding the API: I didn't attach a debugger but I'm almost 100% sure it's the Win32 MessageBox function.
