As part of the final year of our Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, we developed an Android App which allow you to virtually furnish a room in an augmented reality environment.

  •  The name of the app is [elided]. It has been developed at the University of Sherbrooke in Canada by a team of 7 computer engineering student from Québec and France since January 2011. Here is the Android Market Link:

It is currently in the beta phase and it's free, so try it out!

Oh, agreed, but that doesn't stop it being a WTF.

It does say that this is part of their course. Presumably it is not all of it.

  • The project is done for a project management course given over the course of the last two semester of the program. It is worth 6 credits for each 15 credits semester. The first semester is primarily graded with project and financial management exam. The second semester is graded using a comparative peer-evaluation factor (you grade each of your colleague with a + or - compared to you) that is applied to a shared grade that is obtained with technical audit, public presentation and a technical article.

I hope this help you understand the way this is evaluated!

Grade will depend on how each member is able to describe role in project. We have similar thing, but 4 people in one group. Everyone never get same grade.

We have 10 point system. I score 7 out of 10, but my group member score only 4 because he do less work than other member. Now it remind me of performance apraisels in company.

    Do you have them?

For some reason this makes me think of some kind of sporting-goods type clothing upon which you attach sheets of paper or canvas.

"My role in this project was to get the coffee for the rest of the team every morning.  Jim, Joe and Jack all take theirs with cream and sugar, Jerry takes his with five creams and no sugar, Janice and I take ours black with no sugar, and Jason prefers hot chocolate."

I have described in detail my role in this project.  I expect to get 10 out of 10.  The other six will get something less because their roles are more complicated and hard to explain, so it's a sure thing that they'll each leave something out.

Look like where you work, there are no peon people to bring you coffee / tea. Why make use of project member to make coffee? :D :D :D

Because, as every good management person knows, all people are identical and freely interchangeable.  To hire a peon to bring coffee means one more person on payroll, which is wasteful if you've already got a senior analyst with two doctorates and thirty years IT experience.

I am shock at state of afair in your company. Management people need some sense talk to them. Maybe they come down to India to see how things done here. They learn something and hire peon to do all sundry activity stuff.

    <panto> oh no it hasn't..

  • Please tell me what is the app, otherwise how can we make a comment of it please. Either that, or include the same description in the Android Market about "It has been developed at the University of Sherbrooke in Canada by a team of 7 computer engineering student from Québec and France since January 2011" so that it can be searched

(I have no Android; but I know some people that do, and wonder if interested or not to do so)
