How old are you now?

His original question isn't really the WTF, but rather it's the problem he runs into after taking everyone's suggestions.

  • On what planet did he learn English?  I don't think I've ever seen "jz" as an abbreviation for "just" before.

  • Upon reading his other posts on the forums, three things have come to my attention:

    1) His grammar isn't off (like you would expect from a foreigner), just his spelling.  So I think english is his first language.
    2) I'm about 95% sure this guy has appeared on TDWTF sidebar before.
    3) These forums have no internal search ability... only Google search.  WTF?

  • This kid doesn't understand anything these people are telling him. Who on earth would store an actual age in the database alongside the birth date? And when they finally get him to understand to use mysql's built-in functionality to read the age, he now wants to do it on an insert to the table ? There is no hope for this one.

after i change my PC date to 2008,the existing record still show the previous age...but when i add a new record...it will show the correct age....which means 2 records, with the same DOB,but with different age.....inside my database have a field name CurrentDate to stall the current date...so any other ways to update the current date (i mean the existing record)...

     classic

  • In the words of a famous actor, "I know I can't swim, that's why I keep my black ass outta the pool!"

This kid should be charged with attempting to use a dangerous weapon and sentenced to 9 months in a technical institute, on condition that he pass his final examination without assistance.

  • being a beginner can be tough guys.... being a beginner with no concept of logical thinking .... well.... that can be down right TDWTF material ;)

  • The people in that forum have the patience of saints. Not even an eye-rolling smiley...

  • Besides his 4 year old 'izzit' typing style, the extraneous smilies make me want to puke.

But not THAT bad... we have all seen worse I am sure... Everyone has to start somewhere...

  • His post looks like Singlish to me... though I could be wrong.

Ah... the cultural differences that the internet brings to software development... :)

  • But the Singapore government has started the Speak Good English Movement!  I speak good english! You speak good english!  We all speak good english!

Of course, to be correct, it really should be, "Speak English Well Movement".  Unless this is some version of English which is anti-Evil in some manner. :)
