Please find the developer

  • Trouble shooting an issue today,

i clicked a button by accident that brought up an input box (this is a vb6 issue that I got to inherit..)

whenever I clicked cancel on the input box, i received a message box that said:

"Please Find Brian(the developer) to come and do this manually"

  • ROFLMAO ...

Seriously, that is funny as hell! I'd almost call that an Easter Egg.

Reminds me of the button on the confiugration page that wouldn't be seen unless your permission bits were set just so ... "Does Nothing" it said ... You'd click and, sure as hell, nothing happened.

Of course, I had to change that ... Now when clicked, that button generates a dialog box with the message "No, really. It does nothing."

  • It wasn't an easter egg though lol, it is actually something that is used everyday (he just quit, and now everything is being brought to my attention)

You have now safely shut down the Internet.

  • Have it load up a form with the NSA or Norad logo.  Ask for strike coordinates or something.  Have a timer on the form that "detects" a  breach and "dispatches" the authorities to the companies address...

Better yet, have a timer that pops up a confirmation dialog that asks for the code "4 8 15 16 23 42" every 108 seconds, and if no input is received pop up another box that starts to print "System Failure" every second until the code is entered.

Perfect.  That way the user can annoy you while in an utter panic, saying things like "I think we have a virus.  Do you think it's a virus?  Should we shut down the network?  Do you have a virus, too?"

Or they will continue entering in the code for fear of another incident; taking turns in two-man shifts to remain fresh.

This is excellent and is going into one of my apps for a lighthearted client.Wonder if there's a Bing Maps api I could use for targetting.

There is an api.  You'll need to grab a developer key to use the services. I forget the address to sign up but I'll check tonight and see if i can find it.

You have obviously instilled an appropriate level of fear in your users.  HR bitched at me last time I cattle-proded someone.  I mean, c'mon, it's not like I was discriminatory or sexually harassed someone.  I would have applied that punishment equally.

The beautiful shiny button. The jolly candy-like button!

Please clarify.  Is the bit in parentheses your addition, or does the message box actually say "Brian(the developer)"?

  • the message box says, 'find brian and have him print your tags'
