In fact, according to the rest of that page, there are TEN locations within a mere 25 miles, and likely more beyond that.

  • Yeah, their site sucks shit. TRWTF is that for my wedding I rented a zoot suit, and I wanted a specific type of shoe to go with it (the square toe). I was told that the style was a "west coast" style, and that I had to get the "east coast" equivalent, which was a round toe. Now, keep in mind that Men's Warehouse will order your rentals from a factory hub and ship it to the store. And while I understand that it costs a little more to ship from one coast to another, vs. shipping from a regional hub, I would have been more than happy to have paid for the difference in shipping. But, no. Cannot be done. WTF?

Suffice it to say, I did like the way that I looked, but I would have loved it even better if I had the right shoes! Alas, that's not their motto.

  •

TRWTF is why you're not headed down to High-len-town (Highlandtown) for your formal wear needs.

Not to mention three different references to one mall (all wrong), two different addresses, and two different phones.

  • Garbage Person

Well, the differing addresses and phones are because they have two shops in the same mall - one tuexdo shop so the prom kiddies don't get the real merchandise sticky, and one with the real merchandise.

And I haven't been to hylentown since I was ten. Have they gentrified that rathole or are you just being sarcastic?

  • Forgot about the two stores - still, just once they could get the name right.

Not really sarcasm - call it "local kibbitzing."

PS: The gentry haven't quite swept up to the shores of H-town yet.

Was it a 1940s theme wedding or were you just trolling your bride-to-be?  Either way, right on.

That is King-Kong stupid.  You would think through a national chain you'd be able to get whatever style of shoes you wanted, regardless of region.  And at any rate, since when is that an east coast/west coast style distinction?

And while we're at it, who came up with the stupid round/pointy toe anyway?  I sure as hell don't know anyone with feet shaped like that.  The square toe is slightly better but still tends to be too long.  And whatever happened to split lasts?  God damn I hate shoes.

Neither, but for what it's worth, our wedding dance was a swing dance to the Brian Setzer Orchestra. :)

Just for shits and giggles, I asked. They have both styles on hand for sale. I see no reason why they could not have done it for the rentals. That said, I HATE THE STUPID LONG-ASSED SHOES. I always trip on stairs with those fuckers.

Furthermore, how the fuck did I walk in intending to spend about $400 and walk out having spent $900? I'm apparently a sucker for cute saleschicks.

  • Major bummer for all you guys out east. I live in the SF Bay Area (George Zimmer is a local ... wanted to buy the Oakland A's at one time) and every MW store I've been in has treated me very well. If I wanted it ... they would get it for me. Almost my entire office wardrobe came from TMW (my non-work attire is almost entirely from Sears or J.C. Penny's).

A lot of otherwise really nice shoes (usually Italian) take that to the extreme, and it looks dumb, because unless you have a freakishly long middle toe, the end of your shoe is just flopping around.  Where did this idea even come from?  Did a retired clown decide to take up clothing design?

"...but I think you'd look REALLY sharp in the one that costs twice as much."

    Not clown.

    Think cowboy.

Nah, it has more to do with the Fat Dude Tax, what looks like $1/minute+ tailoring charges, and being convinced to buy higher end because there's a chance I might have to wear this shit every working day for the next several years (and $900 amortized over 300 uses/year for a couple of years is pure piffle)

It may very well have just been a tired clown.

You work 300 days a year? Sucks breh.

I usually wear free t-shirts promoting Xbox games to work. My favorite is the Gears of War one which has a giant crushed bloody skull on the front.

Yeah, and I hate you too. Suit-wearing carries a $15k/yr premium - because if I'm going to wear a suit, I need to be a clasically styled badass - and if I'm going to be a clasically styled badass, I need a clasically styled badass car, which means a 1995-97 Jaguar XJR in black with full tint, which given the commute distances in question means I'll be tearing through gas and maintenance at a breakneck pace (fortunately the last of the straight-six Jags were remarkably reliable and are prettymuch the cheapest luxury car marketed in the past 30 years to maintain) but there are a lot of seriously fuddy-duddy companies in these parts willing to pay me to do all of those things.

Of course, I was going to buy the Jag anyway, but they don't need to know that.

300 is a rough estimate. Work plus all the occasions when you might dress up just to be awesome/a dick/whatever. Chicks dig racecar drivers. I can't imagine what they'll do to a well dressed racecar driver.

    Pft.

I wear only quality band t-shirts.

Used to don a cargo pant every now and then, but decided it was unbecoming at the ole' desk. So I'm basically casual office-savvy.

    I don't have a suit. :D

We got those since the Dark Ages, apparently.

At my funeral I want them to play "Paralyzed" by the Legendary Stardust Cowboy.

At mine I'd like "I am the Resurrection" by the Stone Roses
