Passwords, ad infinitum...

An idea raised by a co-worker just now:
Him: "You know the passwords to access the database? Why don't we put them behind a firewall, using a secure webservice to access them. They'd be stored encrypted until they're needed."
Me: "So, we'd need a password to access the passwords?"
Him: "Yeah, but you'd store that password in the database!"
Me: "So, you'd need a password to access the database that contains the password to get to the other passwords.... How are you storing that password?"
Him: "Oh, f#@* off!"

I will not be showing him this thread as I can predict his reply...... :-)
Future Him: "Is there an API for that?"
Future Me: "Yeah, probably, but it'll need a password securely stored in a database..."

I think I do :) Point is, it already exists, and yes, you do need to remember the password for it :P@pnieuwkamp said:

I don't think you quite get what the OP was talking about.

Why would I want to keep ass information?

My anus has a strong password, though I guess you can bruteforce it with plenty of parallel dicks.
