Housos

  • Any suggestions on what to do to some housing commission occupants who are having a loud party on a Sunday night? Can't really go out there as they are milling about, I've registered noise complaints with the cops but they do nothing. I have to go to work tomorrow but they get to sit around watching cable and smoking all on my tax dollars...

  •  Take a vacation.

  • I think the Unabomber had the right idea. How many pages of manifesto do you have so far?

My house is free-standing brick and so is their's. They have a subwoofer that just gets in everywhere even though they are across the road. And they moved in after I did. I don't mind so much that they are on welfare, but when they spit in everyone's faces it's too much. They should be grateful but instead they are just being ferral.

It's just incoherent scribbled notes at the moment. I'll need to fire up Microsoft Word and finish it...

All you can really do is call the cops, seethe and work on the manifesto - don't forget to hit Caps Lock before you start typing.

I have, in the past, gone over and asked people to turn the music down but these days I have plenty to live for so I don't bother.

Get a loud motorcycle (dirt bike, maybe) and start it up. Over and over. Monday morning.

    While spinning the rear wheel.

    In their front yard.

    Facing away from their house.

BTK was an infamous serial killer.
Interesting; I hadn't heard of him before. I thought this was particularly amusing:
    @wikipedia said:
In his letters to police, Rader asked if his writings, if put on a floppy disk, could be traced or not. The police answered his question via a newspaper ad posted in the Wichita Eagle saying it would be OK to use the disk.
Did he really think the police were going to say "Oh, no, don't do that because we might be able to trace you from it"? For even more fun, the actual way they traced him was via "metadata embedded in a deleted Microsoft Word document that was, unbeknownst to Rader, on the disk." Not quite as bad as if it had been "Track Changes", but still a valuable lesson to would-be serial killers everywhere: keep your serial killer letters and your general correspondence on separate media. And don't forget that the police are not on your side.

    Better stick with Notepad.

I chose to send the compendium as a Word file for the following reason:

    1. MS Word is one of the most common and popular software formats
    2. Significantly easier to edit the document compared to PDF
    3. A Word file is significantly smaller than a PDF file (3,5 MB vs 8-10 MB)
    4. The quality of the images are conserved a lot better than in a PDF
    5. Distribution: it is easier to avoid spam filters with a file smaller than 5 MB

Since I have chosen to send the document in Word format you can easily extract all information and the images from the Word file. I deliberately avoided locking the document for this reason.[/quote]

No man, tabs suck in Notepad.

  • You can do what my crochety old grandfather did not too long ago in a similar situation:  Sneak up on them, and fire a 9mm pistol into air a few times and disappear into the night.  I guarantee the party will break up soon after.

You could just use spaces.  I mean, what's wrong with using spaces?

I'm sorry I don't live in the USA so I have limited access to firearms. In fact I've only seen a handful of real guns (mostly rifles or a shotgun) and only on my brother-in-law's farm.

If you really want the cops to come tell them you think you just a saw a drug deal go down.  Also if there are minors there mention that.  Other wise just keep complaining to the cops and also to city hall.  Get your neighbors to do the same.  The police prioritize busting parties based on the number of calls they get about them.  if a few of your neighbors and you start calling every hour.  they will come.

you could do what ozzie ozbourne did ...

he waited till the morning and then took his speakers in the garden and played some swedish death metal ... (i personaly used hard core techno, dave the drummer, ant etc.)

  • Elliptical reflector dishes.

  • I thought I'd update you guys. A few weeks ago they tried to have a few parties in a row - one party started at 11pm. This woke up my wife (now pregnant) and she was extremely angry. She went over and screamed at them to turn the sub-woofer down and a few words of abuse (good-for-nothing, no-one likes you, get a job like everyone else, etc). They did (turn it down, I doubt any of them got a job).

This week the street got a note in the letter boxes saying they were going to have a party (on Friday the 11th) and apologise in advance for the increased noise level, and that it is not a regular occurrence (yeah, right), blah blah blah. The note mentioned that it would finish at 11:30pm. I typed out nice a note in reply and put in their letter box to please turn the sub-woofer off when playing music. (No insults, but did mention that a pillow around my head can't keep their bass out of my brain).

This evening I had already scheduled a games night with a friend, and I just got home (11:15pm) fully expecting a drunken party in full swing with no sign of slowing down. But everything was quiet and no lights on in the house. I don't know if the party has wrapped up, or never happened, or what. So I'm pencilling in a small victory, debriefing in the morning.

    And now some replies...

Since they are young maybe I need some high-power tweeters and blast them with frequencies my ageing ears can't hear any more, but will drive them bonkers.

We have seen a drug deal go on in that house. Someone walked up with money, handed it over, and walked away with a small bag (presumably pot). But since that guy had kept the house quiet for weeks we didn't worry too much. And there are two school-age and two younger kids there. Their mother lets them play in the street. It's a quiet street but some cars do speed along it. The house blocks are around 700m² here so their backyard should be big enough for any kid's game.

We have overhead power: need a rifle with a scope to take out their fuse on the pole. That would make them quiet!

    1. Knock on door.
      Tell people to quieten down.
      Rinse.
      Repeet.
