they could have not escaped at all and it would have worked, single escaping would have worked too, as would not fracking using smart quotes in the first place as then fracking well should have, but double escaping the smart quote? that makes me want to go buy a shotgun from tony down by the docs who never says where he gets the guns and doesn't make you go through all that registration paperwork, and anyway you can't do the paperwork because the serial number is missing....

Ah...I had looked at it in the inspector, but it converts the entities already, so it wasn't immediately obvious to me what was going on.

Even though, "hitbox" sounds like "onebox" I cannot find whether Discourse supports oneboxing hitbox streams.
Googling for "hitbox oembed" doesn't yield any useful results either, but there is a wordpress plugin.

You actually had expectations for discourse that allowed you to be disappointed? Methinks you set the bar too high.
