WAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! Copy pasta....

  • I do like pasta, but copy pasta I hate.

Nothing else to see here, except for 50x the same bad code copied all over the place.

(Removed 1600 lines of code and nowhere near done)

  • Nominated for the mug.

  • There's your mug

  • Are you referring to the highly coveted CTRL-C CTRL-V design pattern, also known as RYMTSM (repeat yourself making the same mistakes)?

(I guess) one up-side to this abhorrent development tactic is that it's almost as easy to maintain as having it written once and called in all 50 places.  Just hear me out: if it really is copypasta, then at least you know that a find and replace will be fairly reliable. I personally would suggest finding all instances of it and shift-deleting them all though (except for one to be refactored into a common assembly).

I used an incredibly funny trick. Let me explain. I was quoting you only because you were weirdly on-topic, not because I was replying to you. In fact, I was replying to the post above yours. For a moment, I thought about mentioning that I do not actually care about what you said, but then I thought you'll probably figure it out. Also, what Sutherlands said.

  • I thought I was missing a blocked image from work.  But there really is nothing to see here.

Did you know playing Devil's Advocate on the internet is indistinguishable from trolling, which is indistinguishable from sarcasm, which looks just like naïveté?

Yeah, I even did a view source to see if there's a blocked image or other somehow hidden information that would make the OP more interesting. But there wasn't.

So let me get this straight...  You're acting like a condescending prick because you forgot to tell me that you weren't replying to me, even though you had me quoted?  Ahh, I see, how incredibly clever *and* funny.

What originally made C-Octothorpe say "what the hell are you talking about" was the fact he had been quoted by derula completely out of context. derula wanted to address astonerbum instead.

In response to this natural confusion, which could have been avoided if C-Octothorpe had taken the trouble of trying to figure out what the hell derula was talking about, Sutherlands provocatively said "Whoosh" (with an h).

Now, I could have gone 'metawhoosh' on you, but I decided to avoid further insanity instead.

The movie doesn't make much more sense with the scenes in the right order, so that's not that big a deal. At least when they're in the right order you can get many more things without having to watch it twice.

You could always watch it just once, but write details you think may be important in post-its so you can read them later.

Memento is a GoF pattern used to encapsulate state information for later restoration.  See this link for a .NET implementation: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/generic_undo_redo.aspx

No need for that. The DVD (or at least some versions of it) has a special feature which lets you watch the movie in chronological sequence.

When there's something really important, should I pause the movie and get it tattooed on my arm?

The Special Edtion DVD includes those tools.

Someone pre-loaded the tags with a bunch of crazy-diacritical characters from the hidden depths of unicode. CS is dumb enough to think that W̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊ and W are the same character (actually, more likely, ToLower('W̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊') == w), and it's super-aggressive tag auto-complete takes care of the rest.

I'm using IE 8.  The work-around for me is to type your tag quickly-- at least the first couple of characters.  CS has a slight delay before auto-complete kicks in.  Also, I found you have to select the auto-completed character and hit the delete key.  For some reason, backpsace won't get rid of the crazy-diacritical characters.

You know, if the guys who ran Community Server were even 1/3rd smart (and they aren't, obviously, because Community Server is the best they can do), they'd provide this forum with the newest version and use us all as beta testers.

I think we're too slow for that. Mind that we're still not done discovering all the bugs in a historic version of CS that is probably unsupported by now.

Good jorb. A couple are still festering:

    Å̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊, D̊̊̊̊̊̊̊̊

And I don't know what the hell is going on with W, but try entering this (without the quotes):  "W, X"
