The EU takes email viruses seriously

  •  Was recently copied on an email at work, where my boss was talking with someone from a European organization, and noticed this at the end of their gigantic email signature:

    ________________________________________________________________________
This e-mail has been scanned for all known viruses by European Medicines Agency.
    ________________________________________________________________________

One day medicine and computer science will be one in the same.

  • So the question then is is it really scanned, or just someone echo-ing something onto the end of the email...

    ________________________________________________________________________

This reply has been scanned for all known viruses by European Medicines Agency.

  • Hey, this is a serious issue! A friend of mine caught syphilis from an unprotected email!

    FTFY.

  •  A lot of us have goofy taglines at the end of the email; and this one sounds close enough to text I commonly see on business emails that most people probably wouldn't examine it too closely.  My guess is that this is just a tagline, and the sender gets a silent momentary giggle every time he sends an email.

    FTFY.

Dude! I thought FTFY must only be used when you change someone's entirely correct bit slightly arrogant post to match your own opinion, and not when actually fixing something.

    FTFY.

    I guess.

  • I thought the official was "This e-mail has been scanned for all known viruses by EMEA" which is probably the same but sounds less strange.

Maybe someone didn't like the abbreviation and decided to expand it. Whether it meant the same is an exercise for anyone that can be bothered.
