Nuclear Spam Attack

I'm sure you guys are on the case (or will be soon), but someone dropped a 10-megaton spam bomb on the forums.
Why do people feel the need to spam TDWTF forums? There's like 20 active users here.

Google looks at it.

I wonder if the spammination would stop if Alex dropped a blacklist-all robots.txt on the forums directory.
-
It's pretty bad.
-
Yeah, this is getting insane.
What about new user moderation? Require new users' posts to be approved?
-
Just deleted another one.
Require new users' posts to be approved?
Even better, according to the status I can set for a user, you can approve/deny them when they register.
-
Let's give this a shot... I change it to "New User Status == Moderated" so let's see if that actually does anything.

I'm still apparently getting email notifications from the spammers, the links in the emails still go to their (apparently live) posts, but their posts aren't showing up in the board indexes.Let's give this a shot... At least that's what appears to be happening...
-
Okay, New User status needs to be taken OFF Moderated right away, because it's making it far harder to mass-delete the spam posts.
They appear as "Last Post" in the forum overviews, but the forums themselves are clean, so I can't use the checkboxes and Move Threads feature.
-
Holy shit... maybe a new forum software should restrict new users to something like 5 posts/day for a week or so.
-
OK - try #2!
"New Account Status" is now set to "Admin Approval"
We'll see what this does.
-
Zero spamblasts so far.

Alex,
I think that's a good idea. You should have each new user make 10 posts and put all those posts in a "Waiting to be released"
section of the site. Regular user will click on that section and mark post as SPAM and OK to release. Only after one post receive 10 votes for "OK" to be release general public can see it.Otherwise it stay buried under that "Waiting to be released" section. I support this idea. IT STOP SPAMMERS...

Cool idea, but also, please consider my idea I post above.

I'm not sure "re-write Community Server" was a viable option.
section of the site. Regular user will click on that section and mark post as SPAM and OK to release. Only after one post receive 10 votes for "OK" to be release general public can see it.
