Expensive used RAM
-
I'm looking for a 2 x 4 GB DDR3 kit for my laptop and I was checking Amazon.com to see how their prices compare to some other online stores. Someone apparently thinks their used RAM is worth a lot more than new RAM.

And there might be some very valuable memories on them.

Out of curiocity what do you need 8GBs for?Well I have 6 gb in my desktop and on startup, almost 3 are occupied, mostly by SQL Server 2008 R2 and win7 so... I work a lot with virtualization so 6gb is not overkill for me
You might run out of 4gb of ram and in dual channel the next stop is 8gb so although it sound like too much it might be useful

Out of curiocity what do you need 8GBs for?Development tools and occasional VMs. Plus 8 GB is only ~ $80, I can probably sell the 2 x 2 GB kit it came with for $25 - 30, so why not? I don't believe in overkill when it comes to RAM.

I have 24 GB of tri channel overclocked ram running in my main machine for similar reasons. I've got a few VM's running Denali and other sql server 2008 r2. I intend to buy an actual server in the coming weeks to help me study for more cert exams. Mostly High availability testing.Development tools and occasional VMs. Plus 8 GB is only ~ $80, I can probably sell the 2 x 2 GB kit it came with for $25 - 30, so why not?
