Yep there they are.

Way to go to encourage people to not participate in the forums. Run CS or over mod cos you're too lazy to test

  • For some context to my chosen words. Monkeys and Cheese are two often used words for testing SQL procs at work by a colleague of mine when he's writing test data and I've kind of adopted them. The Freaky is a phrase that often comes up in my circle of friends and is what I'm sometimes known as by some of the 'straighter' people I've met for my strange 'logical' concepts of religion, science and symbology and The is a good way to start a sentence of a story or nonsense and I figured I'd let Google run with it. Or maybe I am a spambot and I just don't know it yet.

Ha, I think that must've been it. I'm not the culprit, but I did check our recycle bin, and noticed that your deleted posts really did look a whole lot like spam. You sans reputation and with a mod who probably hadn't had his mornin' coffee placebo yet, I can see how this might happen.

  • Given that this draws from the collective verbiage of the internet, someone should hook up a neural network, some input/output and check if it grows sentient.

One of the more fun distributed computing projects that a friend and I discussed one evening whilst chewing that fat was an idea of people running a set of neural network nodes. Each set of nodes would be connected via the internet and input and output filters would be developed to consume information from the internet and there would also be distributed training interfaces. We were basically wondering what kind of psycho it would turn into based on our experience of humanity at large publishing on the internet. This was way back before "social networking" and when IRC and usenet (social networking) were still popular activities and facebook wasn't even a twinkle in someone's eye.

I still think about it on occasion

  • @pink said:

With today's power, you could slash the required amount of machines by running as many nodes as poissible on a single machine.

  • Are we talking hardware or wetware?  I was thinking it's more of a "ghost in the shell" running in a little un-used capacity of millions of brains and becoming sentient without the knowledge of any one of those brains.  Kind of like a chatbot picking up small phrases from a large number of people and using that as input to the next group of people, extracting the semantic consistency as it goes.  Or a more rational explanation for The Matrix.

Surely a mistake by one of the mods. I don't know who it was, but I'll post a warning about that in the mods section. Obviously we do not want to discourage people from using this forum, except for those people who try to sell viagra, cheap shoes, wow gold etc.

I had a hypothetical idea where there's basically a large store of numbers i.e. neurons, a store for the connections between them, and an engine that manages input/output, and multiple cursors traversing the stores, incrementing a connection number whenever a cursor crosses an element of the first store.

Unfortunately I lack the expertise and Will To Live to implement that  idea. As far as my understanding goes, that would be a brain. Not something I'd dare to pull of without some serious CS underpinnings.

    Bingo.

Pink my apologies.   Your posts really did look like spam to me and we often get "nonsensical" posts from spammers who either try to embed hidden links or come back later to edit their posts and add in links.  I also don't drink coffee...   I could however down a tin of penguin mints (roughly equivalent to 24 cups of coffee) in the morning.

    Again My apologies.
