The Nazis are running MS! They're taking over our minds!

  • Seriously, WTF is Microsoft thinking, making the randomly generated avatars at the MSDN forums look like decorated swastikas?!?

  •  I really dislike those generated Tangramoforms, because allooksame to me.

  •  You think that's bad?

  •  So what? Not that those acatars really sjow swastikas but just so you know, the swastika has a long history of use all around the world. Originally it means good fortune.

It is only the narrow minded that associate this symbol with nazism. So the question is: are the guys at MS narrow minded?

Like, say, 99.9% of world's population.

Let's say 99% of the western world. I'm fairly certain in India this will be a different percentage.

I took a look at these avatars and found one that might remotely resemble a swastika (but in fact the inverted, Indian one). I can see how it might offend people, I guess. I can't worry about it too much though.

Our next door neighbours in London were Indians and they used to display the swastika at certain times (I think during Diwali).  Despite knowing of the pre-Nazi history of the swastika and, hopefully, not being narrow-minded I still found my gut reaction when seeing it was related to its 1930's & 40's German usage.

In short, this symbol is associated with Nazism but would be a mistake to believe that this was its original, sole or currentuse.
